‘Mere Paas Tum Ho’ Pulls Off A Unique Marketing Strategy To Draw In Viewers

Mere paas tum ho

Mere Paas Tum Ho has become the ‘flavor of the season’ drama serial in a very short time because of its compelling story and some spectacular performances by a star-studded cast. The serial has been getting massive viewership ratings and much praise from the audience across the globe, however, for the past few days it has been under the limelight for different reasons. The makers have definitely upped their marketing game. Read on to find more…

The Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar controversy

The first bout of controversy hit the drama when it’s screenwriter Khalil-Ur-Rehman Qamar was caught in a media storm of sorts regarding his views on feminism and gender equality.

Speaking in an interview, the writer said, “A woman’s beauty lies in her piety and loyalty. When a man leaves the house, he leaves his trust, wealth, love and respect in her hands and if she opens that up to another man, then I’m sorry to say, I don’t consider that a woman but rather a non-woman”.

Khalil-ur-RehmanControversial as they may be, these remarks perfectly sum up the character of Mehwish, in his play MPTH, that is being lauded far and wide. In the same setting, Khalil sahib also made some inopportune references to women raping men to prove to their equality, which inflamed the sentiments of many.

Ayeza Khan’s intriguing tweet

Khalil sahib’s remarks already had put the Mere Paas Tum Ho in the limelight when a cryptic tweet surfaced. Ayeza Khan, who plays Mehwish, tweeted, “Don’t watch the episode of MPTH tonight, you will hate me forever…”

Now, Ayeza has already been receiving a certain amount of hate based on her incredibly real and life-like portrayal of Mehwish. So the tweet really had our interest piqued.

What could Mehwish do in today’s episode that would make her so unbearable and hated, we wondered…

No YouTube release?

While we were busy deciphering the cryptic tweet, Ayeza threw us some more bait.

The actress posted on her Instagram account that Episode 12 i.e. this past Saturday’s episode would not be uploaded on YouTube. Now this news surprised many because the 8 pm slot is shared by two high-profile dramas, Alif and MPTH, so it is inevitable that one of the shows is viewed live while the other is streamed afterward.

By building such hype and then taking away the option of watching it afterward, the creators of MPTH basically compelled us to tune into the drama at 8. Unamusingly, the episode DID come out on YouTube shortly after it finished on TV.

Final Word

It surely seems that the creators of MPTH and team ARY pulled one up on us this Saturday! Ayeza’s tweet and then supposedly holding back the YouTube upload — but posting it anyway, created a certain hype around the episode that forced people to tune in at 8. While some netizens were intrigued, some also questioned the sanity of such a move, predicting the same outcome ‘Aangan’ faced when it withheld YouTube uploads.

Yet, we have to admit, it was a smart ploy from ARY to win the show even more audience attention.
