Two of the most celebrated companies of Indo-Pak regions are now collaborating to provide a quality animated film to almost 1.5 Billion people living in this region. Not just this, Television tycoon Aljazeera Television networks will also be seen marketing the film worldwide.
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) from Pakistan and Toonz Animation from India are now joining hands for the production and marketing of the film in this region, where as West Asian television tycoon “Aljazeera Television Network” will also be part of this project and will most probably be used to market the film in that region of the world.
The film named Making of Taj will take you back in 17th century when world witnessed the construction and completion of one of the most beautiful structures of all the time, and cherry on the cake is that the film will totally be produced with animated effects in it.
The film will also show you the eternal love story of Mughal prince Shah Jahan and Mumtaz which resulted in the construction of this marble wonder.
Talking about the collaborated project, CEO of Toonz animation P Jayakumar in an interview said, “The Indian company based in Technopark here wants a marketing tie-up for the film ‘Making of Taj’, directed by National award winning film-maker Shyamaprasad, Pakistan Telecom Company and Saudi-based Al Jazeera Television Network have shown keen interest in marketing the film and the modalities would be finalized soon.”
“Taj Mahal is so well known all over the world. But not many know outside India the story behind the grand structure. We want to narrate it for the world. At the same time, we wanted to deviate from the documentary style of story telling and follow a bit more personal line where the building of Taj Mahal is seem through the eyes of a young boy,” Jayakumar said.
The script of the film is almost ready and getting some final touches whereas pre-production work will start soon.
The budget of film on the other hand is expected to be around 20 crore Indian Rupees which if converted in Pakistani currency becomes almost 38 crores. According to company’s own statement, 200 animation professionals will be required to get the characters of the film created and the firm is looking to rope in an animation expert from abroad to oversee the production.
Apart from that it is also said that services of some of the renowned musicians will also be hired for movie’s background score and to lend voices, foreign actors are under consideration.
Movie is expected to hit cinemas most probably next year or maybe on Valentines Day in year 2013.
Well the project seems a big one and though PTCL is not a major player in it but still it will be a project of its own kind and it will be interesting to see country’s telecom tycoon in a very different role. The reason why PTCL showed interest to indulge in the project could be the attachment of Muslims living in Pakistan and their long history with India where in past they were somehow attached with that Mughal empire which ruled undivided India for many years, and hopefully after gaining experience in this field, PTCL would also try its hands in Pakistan film industry as well.
