The Top 5 Debuting Actresses of 2015

2015 was the year of debuts, as we saw many new faces appearing both behind and in front of the camera.

This year many talented ladies were introduced to the silver screen including several A-listers of TV. We picked the names of top five of them who are trying to break the stereotypes linked with working in the films.

Our list of top five debuting actresses of 2015 is comprised of ladies who are epitomes of beauty with brain. They are beautiful and well-versed and have power to face any challenge and skills to deliver big if provided with the right opportunities.

Sohai-Ali-AbroSohai Ali Abbro

Sohai Ali Abbro had a powerful cinematic debut as both of her films, Wrong Number and Jawani Phir Nai Ani, were top two hits of the year. In Wrong Number, despite playing the character of the girl next door, she proved herself as a perfect entry to the film industry. She is good at acting and dance and has glamorous screen presence, as she proved in the dance numbers Selfiyaan and Jalwa and a comic role in Jawani Phir Nai Ani (who can forget that “MA MA” of hers).

Sohai has not yet revealed any of her next film projects but she can be found in couple of TV shows currently on-aired these days.

Armeena Rana KhanArmeena Rana Khan

Armeena Rana Khan, the widely recognized face of a top linen brand, debuted at HUM Films’ box office success and only romantic drama film released this year Bin Roye opposite industry’s stalwarts Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed. Although she had a limited appearance in the film but her elegance and beauty made her a good choice for the character.

2016 seems an exciting year for Armeena, as she is part of two major releases which includes an action thriller Yalghaar and Reham Khan’s production Janaan.

Ayesha OmerAyesha Omer

Ayesha Omer, also known as Khoobsurat from her cult-hit TV sitcom Bulbulaay, chose a right film Karachi Se Lahore to kick-start her film career after working in the entertainment industry for more than a decade. The film was applauded for its fresh comedy and became a box office success. Her dance number “Tutti Frutti”, to which she lent her voice as well, became a huge sensation and one of the most entertaining songs of the year.

Ayesha will also be seen in long awaited Yalghaar next year along with doing a cameo (plus an anti-item song) in a rom-com Two+Two.

Sarwat GillaniSarwat Gillani

Sarwat Gillani, known for intense and romantic characters on TV, surprised many by performing a comic role in Jawani Phir Nai Ani. She was one of the several supporting ladies of the film having an ensemble cast. Her character of a Pakhtoon dominating wife was a treat to watch.

She has given splendid performances on TV before, including in the romantic drama Mata e Jaan, and has potentials to bring same magic to the silver screen. Let us see when she returns to the cinema and surprise us again.

Janita Asma 2Janita Asma

Janita Asma, a relatively less known name of TV, romanced Danish Taimoor in her debut film Wrong Number. She looks very hot on the big screen and has a charming persona. She has potentials to achieve big with her acting skill set and we expect to see her in more movies in the future.
