‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ is the romantic film we were waiting for since forever!

The theatrical trailer of the most awaited movie of the year ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ is finally out and we are awestruck. The trailer offers romance, emotions, music, dialogues, performances and grandeur – everything we expected from an intense romantic film written by the pen of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and made by the team behind biggest hit to date ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Aani’.

‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ is the perfect treat for the fans of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, who defines a trope of his own kind of emotional stories with razor-sharp dialogues and passionate characters. His work is easily recognizable due to its peculiarity and the trailer is nothing short of it. It is his first outing for the big screen in more than a decade after writing the screenplay of Reema Khan’s ‘Koi Tujh Sa Kahaan’, and it seems worth the wait.

Telling truth, the teaser of ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’, which released a couple of months ago, did not blow me away. It felt like another drama serial made on the cinematic scale. The chemistry between the lead pair, Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat, was reminiscent of their hit TV serial Dillagi. I only looked forward to see how Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s world was actually staged on the big canvass. It was little evident from thick Punjabi accent of lovelorn Saeed that something true to its roots was in making.

The trailer lived up to the expectations. The film looks an authentic Khalil ur Rehman Qamar trope, adapted for the big screen on such a scale for the very first time. Although the trailer has not completely shed its TV serial image, as at parts it still looks a small screen work lacking cinematic oomph, but it looks a complete package with roller-coaster experience. The director Nadeem Baig seems to have done justice to the Khalil ur Rehman Qamar script and delivered a much-needed romantic film with true Pakistani feel.

Romance is Humayun Saeed’s forte. In ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ he is looking refreshing and comes out as a breath of fresh air. He is playing Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s character for the first time on screen and fits the character like glove. His effortlessly adopting the accent and dialogue delivery mechanism particularly expected from the Khalil ur Rehman Qamar hero is really commendable. This film is going to be another memorable performance by the superstar of the new-age cinema.

The choice of the leading ladies of the film is also spot-on. Mehwish Hayat and Urwa Hocane both are stunning in their roles. The powerfully delivered dialogues by Mehwish Hayat in the end of the trailer alleviate the woes of her replacing Iman Ali in the movie. The news of Iman’s ouster saddened me, not because I doubted Hayat’s ability to deliver, but I had a long-time dream of seeing Iman Ali in such a role. But, it seemed like the dream was yet to turn into a reality. However, after seeing the trailer I doubt Iman could have been as exceptionally good as Mehwish Hayat. This girl is on a roll and giving one brilliant performance after the other.

(Sorry my inner diehard fan of Iman Ali, I have a new favorite!)

As for Urwa Hocane, she looks stunning and this film will definitely be a milestone in her career. She has potential to deliver big, but so far she has resorted to doing supporting roles on the big screen only. We are sure she has bigger plans for her upcoming films with leading roles. Also we can’t wait to see the complete video for ‘Mera 24/7 Lak’.

Beside strong performances and dialogues, ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ offers a wholesome musical experience as well. The soundtrack is comprised of dance numbers as well as romantic and intense songs. The melodies romantic number by Shafqat Amanat Ali is at top of our list of awaited things.

Produced by ARY Films and Six Sigma Plus, ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ is set to clash with Na Maloom Afraad 2 on Eid-ul-Azha.

We’re super excited for this film and literally counting days to the release. What about you? Let us know in the comments section.
