Eid-ul-Azha 2018 saw a clash of the titans like no other, as three big-budget eagerly awaited films released in cinemas nationwide. While it’s common knowledge by now that Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 has emerged as the clear winner at the box office by recording a 16.78 crore five-day extended Weekend and has taken the country by storm, here’s how the other films have fared.
Parwaaz Hai Junoon
The film has done rather well at the box office given it had to compete against the biggie Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2. Parwaaz had a considerable pre-release buzz which has translated into healthy box office numbers and going by this pace the film will definitely have a strong week one and put up a healthy lifetime figure. Here is the day to day breakdown:
Wednesday: 1.79 crore
Thursday: 2.66 crore
Friday: 2.43 crore
Saturday: 2.87 crore
Sunday: 2.1 crore
Total: 11.85 crore
Load Wedding
Unfortunately, numbers for the film have been on the lower side from day 1 and the film has underperformed big time, given the names attached to it. Be it lesser showtimes or rejection by the audiences ( we will do another article on that soon), the film has been the last choice for cinemagoers which shows in its numbers. Here is the daily breakdown:
Wednesday: 0.90 crore
Thursday: 1.3 crore
Friday: 1.10 crore
Saturday: 1.15 crore
Sunday:0.85 crore
Total: 5.30 crore
Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2
We did a detailed report just yesterday on the global five-day box office bonanza for the film and which records it has broken and which are still intact (Read Here). However, here is the slightly updated daily breakdown at the domestic box office:
Wednesday: 2.90 crore
Thursday: 3.58 crore
Friday: 3.41 crore
Saturday: 3.71 crore
Sunday:3.18 crore
Total: 16.78 crore
Teefa In Trouble
The film which released last month is still putting up a good fight and has recorded huge numbers in its sixth weekend! Here is the breakdown followed by its total box office tally:
Friday: 0.22 crore
Saturday 0.23 crore
Sunday: 0.20 crore
6th Weekend Total: 0.65 crore
Here is the weekly break down:
(Week One): 11.31 crore
(Week Two): 7.48 crore
(Week Three): 5.77 crore
(Week Four): 4.17 crore
(Week Five): 1.50 crore
(6th Weekend): 0.65 crore
Grand Total: 30.88 crore
The best thing about this Eid weekend was that despite the fact that there was no foreign content, cinemas nationwide were full to the brim and had record footfalls. If this is not a positive sign, we don’t know what is! Heres congratulating the makers and hoping the upcoming years turn out to be bigger and better for Pakistani Cinema. However, until we have some official box-office tracking system in Pakistan this is all we have got. The numbers are also revised at times and hence you may observe fluctuations.
