Here is why you can’t find “Aangan” anywhere online!

Aangan

Ever since drama serial Aangan was announced and its BTS pictures became viral on the social media, there has been a lot of hype surrounding it. A lot of talk is about its prolific cast, the novel it is based on, and a lot of people are also drawing comparisons between it and another popular HUM TV period drama, Dastaan. The immensely hyped drama serial finally made it to the screens on December 20, 2018.

So, imagine our surprise and shock when we searched the drama online, and on YouTube specifically, after it had aired, and couldn’t find it anywhere. Zameen Phatnay Lagi, Aasman Toot Para, aur Aankhon Ke Samnay Andhera Chagaya. Yeah, these were the true feelings, and it was quite frustrating for us as fans who were eagerly awaiting the first episode. Such a big price for missing the episode at its airtime?

The Reason for YouTube blackout

It hit us quite badly and we weren’t going to sit down easily without getting to the bottom of it. So, we rang the channel and talked to Minhas Saghir (PR Manager, HUM TV) to find out the reasons for this sinful act. Here’s what he had to say:

Yes! We haven’t uploaded the episode yet on YouTube. We are negotiating with different web portals that approached us to acquire Aangan’s copyrights. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Aangan is the magnum opus of HUM TV, as we have the best writer, director and cast on board. Besides, it’s a highly bankrolled project, so once we come to a deal with one of the platforms, we would be releasing the episodes on weekly basis; the official announcement will be done next week.

Is Aangan coming to Netflix?

Minhas says that they are in talks with different web portals for the drama’s online release. Does that mean, Aangan is coming to Netflix?

Well, seems like that’s exactly where it is headed. It is quite possible that the announcement HUM TV is going make next week will be about the drama being released on a platform like Netflix or Iflix, one episode at a time.

What is all the hype about?

Aangan (courtyard) is primarily a pre-partition love saga, and from the looks of whatever footage we have seen, it promises to transport the audience to that era depicting the simplicity of pre-partition life. It aims to be a contemporary ode to classic love.

There are couple of things that make it special, including the fact that it is the dramatization of the novel with the same name by Khadija Mastoor. Mastoor wrote the novel decades ago in 1962 and it went on to win the Adamjee Literary Award the same year. Not just that, the novel was translated into thirteen different languages.

So there is obviously a lot of history behind the period drama. Then there is this Sajal-Ahad factor, where the couple is pairing up once again after “Yakeen Ka Safar.” The duo shared crackling chemistry in ‘YKS,’ and are touted by some circles to be the next Fawad and Mahira of the Tinseltown.

Add to that the presence of Hira Mani, who is fresh out of ARY’s hit serial, Dil Mom Ka Diya, and Mawra Hocane, who proved her versatility once again with her performance in Sammi (2017). Her performance won her the nomination at HUM Awards for Best Actress Popular Choice. Cap that all up with the fact that Mohammed Ehteshamuddin is directing the serial, who in past has given hits like Sadqay Tumhare and Udaari.

Therefore, no doubt Aangan is going to be another milestone in Pakistani television’s history, and since we have missed the first episode, we can’t wait for it to be released online so that we can also enjoy it without missing a single thing about it.
