Mahira discusses upcoming film “Superstar,” fate of “7DMI” in an interview

Mahira Khan has been the reigning queen of the Pakistani entertainment industry since Humsafar first aired in 2011. She has done many dramas and films since then, one even India, but we all just want to see more and more of her. Well, guess what? 2019 is the year in which we all get to enjoy our superstar’s performance in not just one, not even two, but possibly three films.

One we already know is Bilal Lashari’s project, The Legend of Maula Jatt, then she is doing this special appearance in Asim Raza’s Parey Hut Love, and the third is going be Momina Duraid’s next, Superstar.

Mahira on Superstar

Mahira had been roped in by “Momina Dauraid Productions” for Superstar almost a year ago, and will be seen opposite Bilal Ashraf.

In an interview to Instep, she revealed that Superstar is, “a romance in its essence, but it’s a story about faith, failure, success, and two people who meet each other at a strange time, basically wanting the same thing out of life, but how they want it is very different.”

It would be definitely interesting to see Mahira, once again, involved with romance as a genre. But don’t we all want to see her doing a more commercial, masala laden flick, something that would give us a look into more of Mahira’s many shades? The superstar thinks otherwise, she says “it is a passion project. People ask me why I’ve taken it up, but I can’t help it, my heart is in it.”

In the same interview, Mahira also talked about the failure of her last film, 7 Din Mohabbat In. She believes that the reason why the film didn’t do well is because it didn’t manage to build a connection with the audience, “I heard it opened well, as far as business goes, but what makes you sustain at the box office is when it clicks with the audience, so somewhere, that connection was missing.”

About Superstar

With Bilal Ashraf, it would be a fresh pairing for the audience and the producer Momina feels that “they will make a stunning on-screen couple,” and we rightfully agree! The film’s genre is based on romance, and the screenplay is written by Azaan Sami Khan, who also happens to lend his voice for the songs of the film.

Azaan previously has the experience of the also writing the screenplay of his own production, O21 (2014), and is also producing the music of Parey Hut Love. Atif Aslam has also been roped in for the music.

Udaari and Chambaili famed director, Ehteshamudin would be spearheading the film as a director.

While the release date of Superstar has not yet been confirmed, The Legend of Maula Jatt and Parey Hut Love are releasing on Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, respectively. Stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywood for more updates on the film.
