Yes, you read it right! The R&B Grammy Award Winning American singing sensation, Akon is coming to Pakistan and will be kicking off the World Soccer Stars (WSS) 2019. The event takes place in Pakistan this year in April and already has big football names like Ricardo Kaka and Luis Figo attending it.
The iconic singer will be performing multiple show-stopping concerts from 26 – 29 April, 2019 in Karachi and Lahore. World Soccer Stars 2019 is being organised by UK based TouchSky Group and both the football stars have already landed in Pakistan today.
“Time to Rock Pakistan!” Says Akon
Akon seemed all pumped up for his performance in Pakistan and said, “It’s time to rock Pakistan, I am looking forward to visiting Karachi and Lahore with TouchSky Group. So let’s get it down in Pakistan with World Soccer Stars.”
Talking about Akon’s arrival, Ahmer Kunwar of TouchSky Group said, “AKON is all set to mesmerize Pakistan and give fans the most pulsating music concert experience for the first time ever.”
Bilal Ashraf to Host
It is pertinent to mention here that while these huge music and football stars will be performing at the WSS, our local star, Bilal Ashraf will be hosting the entire event.
Bilal is no newcomer when it comes to hosting sports events. He co-hosted the opening ceremony of PSL 2018 with Hareem Farooq in Dubai last year, and now seems all pumped up for this huge opportunity to interact up close with his own favourite stars.
Talking to Express Tribune about hosting the event, Bilal said, “I am extremely excited, I mean, Kaká, Figo, massive, massive football players. It is going to be great, I’m looking forward to it, it is something I haven’t done before, so it is great opportunity to see these guys up close and personal, and to see how they are as people, of course we all know how they are as players, but to interact with them on a personal level is what I’m looking forward to.”
WSS ‘19
According to the event organizers, WSS ’19 aims to uplift football in Pakistan and will see the use of interactive coaching clinics that will be assessed by some of the best international footballers as well. It will also offer a gateway to football talent at the grassroots to exhibit their skills.
While both the football stars have already arrived in the country for the launch of the event, Akon will be arriving in late April at the time of the four day football extravaganza. The event take place on April 26th to 29th with two matches in Karachi and Lahore.
By signing Akon, Kaka, and Figo, along with Bilal Ashraf hosting the event, TSG is definitely putting Pakistan on the world map as a destination of choice for global entertainers and icons.
