Box Office: ‘Avengers: Endgame’ holds strong on the second weekend

Avengers, after a robust first week, has refused to slow down on the second weekend too. The first-week gross went up to 23 crores and the cumulative total for the 2nd weekend has been 4.25 crores. This number is huge considering the movie got a humungous number of shows in its first week and a majority of the people watched it in the first week as well but the movie is going as strong as ever, on the second weekend too.

Some records broken, some not

Avengers has failed to beat the all-time record of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 though which amassed a total of 6.5 crores on its second weekend. Sultan’s second-weekend record has been surpassed but with Ramzan starting from tomorrow, the final collections of 33 crores look tough to be achieved. The release of the dubbed version, however, will help the film to run in circuits.

Avengers, if had released at a better time, would have had a better chance at doing much more business. The film has had the gas to run the IMAX screens nearly full for 10 days, with 4 to 5 shows every day. This shows that the audience has loved Endgame and Ramzan business will be interesting to see. Avengers will be the first Hollywood film to surpass the 30 crores mark in the Pakistani market, with the previous highest being Fast 8 with total collections of 26.7 crores. Avengers, on the all-time highest grossers list in Pakistan, stands at the 8th spot, and it will be interesting to see if it can de-throne Sultan from the 7th position.

Worldwide business

In the worldwide market, Avengers has already become the 2nd biggest film of all time with collections of 2.188 billion beating Titanic which had done 2.187 billion. Now it seems almost certain that the Avatar’s long-standing record of 2.788 billion, with Avengers having much more time to break this record, might get broken soon. Let’s see how his juggernaut of a hit will celebrate The End, with a bang.

I am a complete movie buff, who not only watches a lot of movies but also considers all other factors involved in making movie a success story. Movies are my passion and analysing them from all aspects is what I love doing.
