Talash starred some relative newcomers and came with no buzz, while Ford v. Ferrari carried with it more critical than mass appeal despite starring two of Hollywood’s biggest actors in Matt Damon and Christian Bale.
The box office outcomes of both the films were predictable with Ford v Ferrari picking up over the weekend following opening numbers that were surprisingly similar to that of Talash. Let’s take a more detailed look.
Talash
The Fariya Hassan, Ahmed Zeb and Noman Zeb starrer opened with about 10 lacs on Friday, and went on to score 34 lacs over the weekend. While these numbers are low, they compare favorably with other indie releases like Durj and the trending has also been positive, with the numbers showing a slight increase. The film lacks commercial value or content, and it is unlikely that it would be able to sustain at these low levels.

Ford v. Ferrari
This was a mammoth production from Hollywood compared to Talash and surprisingly its numbers on Friday were similar to the Pakistani venture, with the film scoring an estimated figure of around 10.3 lacs. However, the Matt Damon-Christian Bale starrer saw a massive pick-up on Saturday, indicative of a positive word of mouth, earning 17 lacs and then settled on 14.7 lacs on Sunday, for a weekend grand total of 42 lacs. While the total numbers are on the low side, the positive trending indicates that the film is in for a healthy run in the long haul, and just might emerge a winner. With the award season rolling around the corner, the buzz for the film will continue to build with every prestigious nomination.
