At the start of this year, it was said that 2010 is going to be the year for “Revival of Pakistan Film Industry”, which was quite right as well because 7 big films were almost ready to be released either on Eid festivals or at the end of the year. But we are now standing at a point when the year 2010 is coming to it’s end, and we can’t actually see those “Revival dreams” turning into reality.
Major Films to be released in 2010 were:
- Bol
- Love Mein Gum
- Bhai Log
- Son of Pakistan
- Devdas
- Slackistan
- Victim
From above mentioned seven movies, only Slackistan is the one, which is still in some news to be released this year, probably in December 2010.
Other than that some movies are delayed due to floods and the unstable atmosphere of the country, while others are either not able to find any place to be screened or delayed due to Moharram (as actors, directors and producers prefer not to work in this religious month while on the other hand cinemas also face difficulty in attracting the normal audience as mostly people prefer to spend their time in religious activities just like in the month of Ramadan).
As we know that these movies are not releasing on their previously set dates, new “expected dates” for these movies are now available, so that fans can gear themselves up according to those dates.
The new “Expected dates (months)” are mentioned below.
- Bol (Start or Mid January 2011)
- Price of honour (January 2011)
- Love mein Gum (January/February 2011)
- Bhai Log (January/February 2011)
- Son of Pakistan ( January/ February 2011)
- Victim ( March-June 2011)
- Chup (March-June 2011)
- Saltanat (March – July 2011)
- Daagh (May – Aug 2011)
- Devdas (Unknown)
- Freedom Sound (Unknown)
In case of Devdas, nothing can be predicted as the movie is continuously under delay from last 3 years as producer of the film is facing some financial obstacles to release it.
The list of movies to be released next year also shows that every incoming movie is going to face a hard & tough competition due to two main reasons; firstly almost all the mentioned movies are made under some of Pakistan’s big banners and secondly their releasing dates are set in such a manner that they are expected to be released one after one. If all this happens then 2011 for sure will give a new life to the film industry of Pakistan.
Very good revision! Thanks for this!
