Death of Osama bin Laden has put an impact on almost every field and without any surprise the dramatic incident of his death is now making its entry to our film industry too. The very first film to have references from ‘Bin Laden death’ incident is upcoming Pakistani film “The Dusk”.
As shooting of the film is now heading towards its end, more and more facts are coming out of the box, and the most recent one amongst them is its story having glimpses from the post-death global atmosphere of OBL.
Unfolding this fact, director of the movie Z-Shan Kazmi in an interview to Galaxy Lollywood said, “We already had such thing in our script due to the nature of the topic that we have chosen, but when all this happened we amended our script a little bit and brought it more closer to the situation of the world after that mysterious Abbottabad event.”
When asked about the baseline of film story Z-Shan revealed it in somewhat this way, “The Dusk is a drama centered on newly married couple Ali (Salman Khan) & Fatima (Uzma Khan). Ali was mysteriously kidnapped at 5th day of marriage, kidnappers demanded ransom nor did they contact back. Now, life of this couple has been controlled by panic and fear”.
“Many would think that there is going to be a great violence in the movie because of the story outlook but actually we have designed it in such a way that it hasn’t got that typical kind of violence that we generally see in films catering such topics, it’s a smooth story but we have injected the anger and frustration we all share because of the current situation of our country”, Z-Shan added right after sharing the basic storyline of the film.
Furthermore, he claimed that according to his believes, the film story will leave a certain impact on the lives of its viewers.
The dusk that on one hand will mark the debut of its lead actors (Salman and Uzma Khan) in film industry, would on the other hand also give industry a new director in face of Z-Shan Kazmi.
Z-Shan is in industry for quite a long time now and in his ‘Pre-Dusk’ career he worked as an editor with almost all top guns of industry and most prominent of them is famous director/wirter and actor Sarmad Khoosat.
When asked about the difficulties he faced in dealing with this new chapter of his career, he said, “Well I don’t think I faced any difficulty here, it’s mainly because of the reason that I have already spend much time in the industry and luckily understand its mechanisms, I am not the guy who always complains about whatever he has, people in this industry always have some same sort of excuses to avoid owning their work, if you ask a producer or director that why their product can’t compete with that of Holly/Bollywood, most probably their answer would be “Oh we don’t have much resources OR the government here is not supportive to us OR we don’t have better equipment to work with”, but actually the fact is that we are making films with cameras that were active in Hollywood around 10 to 12 years back but the question is that are we now producing films of Titanic or Jurasic Park standards, the answer is simply a big “No” and it’s all because we don’t have that required mindset to temper our vision and bring it on the screen in best possible way by utilizing all our resources efficiently.
Besides this when asked about the expected release date of the movie, he said, “Well we have set a deadline of September and we are expecting to hopefully wrap-up all the production work by then, we have few film festivals in mind for film’s initial screening, two major festivals of them are: Florence film festival Italy and Dubai International film festival, and right after that we would work-out our strategy to screen the film locally as well”.
