No doubt Bol is performing exceptionally well at box office in Pakistan and the biggest proof of which is its on-cinema business of over Rs. 40 million in a mere time of two weeks. But something that further makes one happy is the fact that movie yet has to be released in other parts of the world, and so we can see it becoming the biggest film of the country so far been released.
Besides the big numbers that we are hearing on daily basis about its revenue collection in Pakistan, an another numerical fact about the film has just been revealed by the chairman of Pakistan Film Exhibitor’s Association, ‘Zoraiz Lashari’.
In one of his recent interviews to an Indian news agency, Zoraiz revealed that Indian film distribution giant: Eros Entertainment, has bought the distribution rights of Bol for Rs. 5 crores and now it plans to release the film in India very soon.
“The Eros group has bought Bol‘s rights for Rs. 5 Crores. It plans to release the film shortly in India. We believe the film has the ingredients, like a strong story and good performances to do well there,” said Zoraiz.
He also revealed that this second directorial flick of Shoaib Mansoor will release in India with about 200 prints.
Just to update our international readers on the worldwide release of the film; Bol is releasing on the the date of 30th August 2011 internationally including India. And as its expected to be the festive of Eid-ul-Fitr on the same date, this will surely help attracting a big market towards the cinemas for the film.
Although Zoraiz in his statement mentioned about the deal, but there are two things still not clear. The first thing is, whether these five crores were in Indian or Pakistani currency, if these were in Indian currency then after converting them into Pakistani rupees, they become about 10 crores. And ten crore means the deal was not that bad. But if these five crores were in Pakistani rupees then it means Eros actually bought the rights of Bol for only INR. 2.5 crores, which means the film was sold to them on not good rates.
Second unclear thing about the deal is, whether these five crores were only for distributing the film in India or these were meant for the international distribution rights of the film too. Five crores for distributing the film worldwide seems very low, and specially when the movie is performing exceptionally well in its home country, and has a great South Asian market all across the world too.
Though we can’t clearly give a verdict to this deal but yet we think it will at least give a start to our local films to make an identity in international market. And hopefully situation and deals will get much better and bigger in future.
Thats really a great news
