Sharmeen Obaid, Javed Sheikh, Meera, conferred with highest civil awards

The Oscar winner Pakistani documentary director/journalist Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy along with other notable showbiz personalities were decorated with Pakistan’s highest civil awards yesterday 23rd March on Pakistan day.

The director of ‘Oscar’ winning documentary Saving Face, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy was decorated with Pakistan’s second highest civil award–Hilal-I-Imtiaz (Crescent of Excellence) for her services in the field of Arts and media and being the first female director of the country to touch such heights.

Apart from Sharmeen, the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari bestowed President’s Pride of performance award on veteran Pakistani director cum actor Javed Sheikh and film actress Meera for their services in the field of entertainment.

Other showbiz personalities to receive national awards were seasoned drama actor Qavi Khan and actor Nauma Ijaz, who were decorated with Sitara-I-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence), the third highest civil award and President’s Pride of performance award, respectively.
