Usually when people see or just think of film stars or celebrities in general, they imagine; how they spend their all-time happy-go life with all the money in the banks and credit cards always available to be swiped, far away from the daily cries of a common man and near to all the worldly comforts. It becomes pretty hard sometimes to imagine of something that could be missing in such a life.
But again, that’s what they just imagine. In reality however, there are zillions of tiny-little things apart from the bigger ones, that our celebrities feel missing or crave for in their daily lives.
A similar sort of wish was recently revealed by our very own Humaima Malick, who recently won the ‘Best actress’ Award at London Asian Film Festival and also at 11th edition of Lux Style Awards, for her widely praised performance in last year’s blockbuster Pakistani film Bol.
In a recent interview to Dawn News, Humaima revealed that she is currently managing hard to take out time out of her busy schedule so that she can study and complete her studies with at least a BBA degree in hand. Talking about the relevance of education even being a celebrity with all sorts of offers on table, she said, “I can’t even begin to tell you how important education is to me. Looks have a shelf life and I would like to quit while I’m at the top of my game.”
Besides this, the 24 year old also talked about a rather depressing chapter of her short marriage with actor Shamoon Abbasi that finally ended up with divorce just after few months of the wedding.
“[I] learned from the experience and everything happens for a reason — I believe you need to be pure, and if you have faith in God and your intentions are good then everything turns out well, eventually… My divorce happened while I was shooting for Bol, and it left me completely shattered. I felt like I could not go on. But I promised myself that I would not walk away from the sets of the film. I felt like I had been vindicated when Bol was released and the accolades started pouring in,” she says.
On the lighter side of the interview, Humaima talked about her recent experience at Lux Style Awards where she was declared the ‘Best Film Actress’ of the year and also hosted the event with singer turned actor Ahmed Butt. On a rearely seen friendly note, she termed her experience with Meera at the function, ‘anything but boring’.
“I have attended the event before but this time it was an entirely different experience. It was my first award in Pakistan, and being appreciated by your own people is what keeps an artist going. I had fun hosting with Ahmed Butt, and playing antakshri with Meera was anything but boring,” said Humaima while commenting on this year’s LSAs.
Humaima is currently shooting for her second feature film, which would be her first in Bollywood named, Sher, where she has been cast opposite to renowned Indian actor Sanjay Dutt.
We sincerely hope Humaima fulfills her wish of completing her education because that not only gives one a sense of security but contributes largely in the character building of the person. Besides, we also wish that she really makes the country proud with her performances in all her upcoming projects, either international ones or those in Pakistan.
