An all new post of ‘News Aaj Kal’ and this time again, we bring you all that is latest and cooking in Pakistan’s film world.
New movies popping up, new trailers expected and some long awaited projects are finally crawling towards conclusion. Here is it all, under this one tab. So enjoy reading.
Gear-shift for Mahira! Taking to it to the next level:
Since her VJ-ing days, Mahira has always showed an increasing potential and a capacity to offer more. Wherever the camera may follow her, she has always managed to leave her distinct mark.
After a long break from films since her debut with Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol in 2011, this year it will be all Mahira on our cinema screens. With three confirmed film projects (two at home, one away), Mahira is currently among the busiest people in the industry.
Besides Humayun Saeed and Zeba Bakhtiyar starer Bin Roye, Mahira will also be seen as a female lead in Shehryar Munawwar Siddiqui’s own production, Ho Mann Jahan. Where Sheryar is also acting in the film, the project is being directed by Asim Raza. Moreover, the good news is that around one-third of the project is already done and the film will soon be ready.
The third big leap that the Humsafar girl has taken is in Bollywood. Opposite Shahrukh Khan, yes Shahrukh Khan, she will also be seen in Rahul Dolakia’s Raees.
Kambakht moves ahead…finally:
Have this one in Hamza Ali Abbasi’s own words.
Shahzad Rafique’s ‘Salute’ to national hero Aitzaz Hasan:
Martyr Aitzaz Hasan is no doubt the nation’s hero, and he should be honoured and respected as such. So thanks to the ace director Shahzad Rafique, who has taken it upon himself and has announced a national language feature film on the sacrifice of the boy.
Titled as Salute, the cast and other details regarding the film will soon follow.
Yalghaar’s trailer…any day now:
Among other things, one major difference between Waar and Yalghaar is that the latter has so far managed to maintain the required pace designed for it in its initial timeline.
The timeline too hasn’t been altered much and the next in that line stands the release of film’s first trailer. The good news is that the trailer is very much expected in the running month, and can be made public any day now.
Well, we guess you already know where to come looking for it, so stay tuned.

Sanam Saeed on film debut with Bachana:
The newly wedded Sanam Saeed, after conquering it all on television is all set to make her film debut.
Actually, her film debut stands between two upcoming films, Anjum Shahzad’s Fahad Mustafa and Iman Ali starer ‘Mah-e-Meer’, and the recently announced Nasir Khan directed ‘Bachana’ opposite Mohib Mirza. So it all depends which one hits the cinemas first.
The video above is of the film’s shooting spell in Mauritius which shows that the project is progressing fast. For now, all our best wishes for the film. For more details regarding the project, watch the video.
I was waiting for someone to come out with a film for martyrs, such as Aitazaz 🙂 Finally someone’s doing it!
