Shahzad Rafique is the prolific director of Pakistan film industry. He has given some of the highly memorable films of the last two decades, including Salakhain (2004) and Muhabtaan Sachiyaan (2007). His previous Punjabi romantic mystic drama Ishq Khuda was released in 2013 and since then he has been missing from the silver screen.
Rafique is returning to the big screen after a hiatus of three years with biopic Salute. The film is based on the life of Aitzaz Hassan who gave his life confronting a suicide bomber attempting to blow himself in his school and saved the lives of 2000 students present in the school.
Aitzaz Hassan, 17, was born in Hangu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After his martyrdom, he was hailed as a national hero and Pakistan government conferred him with high civil award Sitara-e-Shujaat (Star of Bravery).
Salute has been in making for quite some time now and it was announced to be released in September last month after few former postponements . The film is, however, delayed further and it will release on December 2 now, as revealed by a source close to the makers. This release date seems final one, as also assured by the source.

The queen of Lollywood Saima Noor is also returning to the big screen after long time with Salute. Ajab Gul, who will also be seen in Janaan this Eid, is playing husband of Saima in the film. The other cast of the film includes Nayyar Ejaz, Adnan Khan and Ali Mohtesham (playing Aitzaz Ahsan).
