The critical success of Anjum Shahzad’s ‘Mah e Mir’ is phenomenal. The film was released almost a year ago but it has been rocking the festivals and amassing critical appraise since then. The film recently bagged Recognition Award at the 5th Hum Awards and now it has also won big at a film festival in India.
‘Mah e Mir’ was recently screened at the 7th Dada Saheb Film Festival in Delhi where it bagged awards for Best Film and Best Music. This is indeed a huge achievement for the film!
The award was received by Indian peace activist Harsh Narayan on behalf of the makers of ‘Mah e Mir’ who were not able to attend the festival due to ongoing tensions between the two countries.
‘Mah e Mir’ is a biopic based on the life of 19th century Urdu poet Mir Taki Mir. The film stars Fahad Mustafa, Iman Ali, Manzar Sehbai, Aly Khan and Sanam Saeed. It was submitted by Pakistani Academy Selection Committee for Oscar consideration in the ‘Foreign Language Film Award’ category at the 89th Academy Awards. The film could not make it to the final list.

The Dada Saheb Film Festival is India’s only independent film festival, established in 2011 with a mission to celebrate the cinema and work of aspiring, young, independent and professional filmmakers. The festival is organized on 30 April each year to mark the birth anniversary of Dada Saheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema.
