After a rather slow start to the year, things finally seem to be picking up the pace for Pakistan Film Industry. Two films; Mikaal Zulfiqar and Armeena Rana starrer airforce drama, Sherdil, and Humayun Saeed, Sheheryar Munawar, and Syra Shahroz starrer superhero film, Project Ghazi, are both supposedly set to release on 22 March 2019.
The focus here should be on the word “supposedly!”
The ‘Breaking News’ Factor
In this age of new media, attention spans are shrinking, whereas the hunger for likes and validation is on the rise. There is this rat race among news portals to be the first one to break the news and use the highly coveted words, ‘Exclusive’ and ‘Breaking,’ which, as a result, has put a big question mark on the credibility of the content.
This race has everyone battling it out to grab eyeballs. To give the readers something, absolutely anything, which may or may not even be accurate, but hey, you heard it here first!
Nonetheless, Galaxy Lollywood, as a platform, has always prided itself for being one to provide wholesome, unbiased, and credible information on films. Remember, even if you heard something somewhere first, if it ain’t at Galaxy Lollywood, it ain’t credible enough.
The Actual Story
So, recently, there were reports on many portals talking about ‘official confirmations’ on release dates of ‘Project Ghazi’ and ‘Sherdil.’ It was reported that both the films are ready and all set to release on 22nd March 2019. Things looked kind of shady, given that the official mediums of communication were rather mum, and this definitely made us question the authenticity of these claims.
To confirm these reports, we first called the director of Sherdil, Azfar Jaffri. Azfar revealed that this was all ‘Chinese Whispers’ and nothing concrete as of yet. He further told us that they are potentially looking at a national holiday for a release date since it would suit the genre of the film, but that they haven’t locked any date so far.
He also told us that they would first want to get a distributor on board, have the marketing plan in place, and then make such a major announcement. Sounds about right!
Next up, we checked with the Project Ghazi hero, Sheheryar Munawar. The actor wasn’t exactly too sure about the release date but did reveal that the work on the film was on. We checked with a few sources, who did not divulge many details but did say that the 22nd March release is a strong possibility. They, however, told us that the final decision is not yet taken, but will be done soon and announced officially.
So, in conclusion, these two films very well may come out on the mentioned release date or might just not come out. All we can do is wait for an official reveal from the makers, or a go-ahead from them, after which we will reveal the actual dates to you.
