Last year, Cake was released. Despite many apprehensions that a lot of us had about this comedy-drama film (the most prominent being that it was probably not commercial enough for our nascent cinema), the film was able to rise to critical acclaim, on account of its brilliant content and of course, remarkable direction. The man behind this brilliance was Asim Abbasi and Cake was a result of his directorial skills. The film recently made its way to Netflix and the director was happy that our neighbors from across the border would now finally be able to see this marvel.

Asim Abbasi begins shooting for his next film
Recently, Asim Abbasi took to his Facebook and revelead that he is all set to shoot his next film.
While recalling last year’s Cake’s London shootings, the director said, “Last time I was on set was May 2017 for Cake’s London spell. Two years and one film later, I will be on set from tomorrow for a long, long stretch.”
“Beyond the butterflies in my tummy and the sick in my mouth, I am not sure what I feel right now. But I sure am grateful to be reunited with my old film family – Mo Azmi, Aarij, Faiz, Zoobia, Samiya, Zarmeen, Nadeem, Zeeshan, Syed Mehdi and some top-class new additions Saqib, Shahrukh, Sana, Owais, and Nabil. Thank you for making the last four months of prep possible!” Asim Abbasi further added.
“Here’s to hoping that we manage to tell this story as unabashedly, shamelessly, and provocatively as it deserves to be told,” he ended.
