Box Office: ‘Chhalawa’ and ‘Wrong No. 2’ own the Eid holidays with big numbers

Looks like our cinemas finally got the respite they so desperately needed as the two local Eid releases; Chhhalawa and Wrong No. 2 have been able to gather some remarkable numbers, all within the 3 days of Eid. Here is a complete breakdown of what has gone down for the said films in terms of numbers, ever since their release.

Chhalawa

Wajahat Rauf’s Chhalawa, despite getting a number of negative reviews, has been able to sustain itself over the 3 days of Eid. The film has managed to cross the 6 crore mark in 3 days, with the major chunk of its business coming from Lahore and the twin cities (Islamabad and Rawalpindi).

Below is the film’s estimated business, so far:

Wednesday: 1.5 crore
Thursday: 2.5 crore
Friday: 2.4 crore
Total: 6.4 crore

With the weekend coming ahead, the film is expected to cross the 10 crore mark. Let’s wait and see how the situation unfolds.

Wrong No. 2

Yasir Nawaz’s Wrong No. 2, following Chhalawa‘s suit, has shown even more remarkable numbers. The major chunk of its business is coming from Karachi and certain pockets of Punjab too. Below is the film’s estimated business, so far:

Wednesday: 1.6 crore
Thursday (revised): 2.6 crore
Friday: 2.5 crores plus

Total: 6.75 crore

Just like Chhalawa, Wrong No. 2 is expected to cross the 10 crore mark too, over the weekend.

A final word

As per our trade expert Zaryan Khawar, “if these numbers go down on the weekend, that would be rather alarming. As for the coming week, he had the following to say: “While the films are expected to sustain on weekdays, we’ll have to wait and see what happens on Monday or Sunday night.”

We have our fingers crossed.
