Sherdil turned out to be this year’s biggest dark horse, surprising everyone with its strong box office run and some cutting edge CGI. The film also happens to be star Mikaal Zulfiqar’s most successful film venture and gained audience appreciation for its interesting combination of air-force action drama with romance and elements of comedy.
Plot will take a new direction
In an exclusive to Galaxy Lollywood, the man behind the project, Sherdil’s writer and producer Noman Khan has now confirmed that a sequel to the action-romance drama is very much in the works. “The synopsis and plot of the sequel is in place, and we would like to make the film retaining characters of the original but with a new angle to the storyline,” he revealed, hinting that the film is not likely to be a direct sequel.
Noman Khan to direct, Mikaal to return
As far as the cast and crew of the project is concerned, so far Mikaal Zulfiqar and the film’s editor Rizwan A.Q are very likely to be on board. “However this time around, I would also like to give more actors the platform to perform, and will be casting some of the best talents in the country,” he said, indicating that the film is going to be multi-starrer. And quite importantly, Noman Khan revealed that he is going to be taking over the responsibility of directing the project as well. “I would like to don the hat of the director this time, besides producing the film with my co-producer.”
The enterprising filmmaker also added that he has received numerous messages about possible direction the film’s sequel could take, and he is willing to entertain ideas of different writers and contributors. “We would like to hold a competition of sorts, where different writers can pitch in their ideas, regarding which I will be sharing more information shortly.”
An even bigger project?
Looks like the Sherdil sequel is shaping up to be a bigger and even more exciting project than the original film. We definitely have our fingers crossed and will be following the latest developments on this front. Keep watching this space!
