If there is one constant source of entertainment that is always providing the Pakistani audience new content to consume it is the Pakistani drama industry. Even when the whole world went into a lockdown situation because of the COVID-19, Pakistani drama channels had enough content reserved in their banks to keep their programming schedule running smoothly.
As soon as a drama finishes its run on a channel, there’s a new drama ready to go on-air in its place. And just between Geo TV and Hum TV, there are a whopping eight new dramas whose promos have already gone on-air. Take a look below and see what these channels have in store for their audience.
Mohabbatain Chahatain
It must be a good time being a fan of Junaid Khan and Hira Mani’s pairing. Currently, they are starring in Kashf which is going to be airing its last episode this week. But the couple is all set to dazzle the audience once again with Hum TV’s upcoming drama, Mohabbatain Chahatain. If that wasn’t enough to excite the viewers, the drama also has Armeena Khan in the lead role, who is returning to the screens after three years. Junaid Khan had revealed that the drama will not be a love triangle. However, the recently-released OST hints otherwise. At this point, we can only wait for the drama to go on-air.
Dil Tanha Tanha
It has been quite some time since the audience saw Mohsin Abbas Haider on television. But the singer-actor is coming back with a bang. The Na Maloom Afraad actor will be seen in Hum TV’s drama, Dil Tanha Tanha. The teasers reveal Mohsin playing an egoistic character who doesn’t take no for an answer. Mohsin had talked about how he was having fun playing such a character in Dil Tanha Tanha. This might be the first time Mohsin has ever done a role of this kind. Co-starring Kiran Haq and Nazish Jehangir, the expectations are already high from Dil Tanha Tanha.
Qaraar
Actress Sanam Jung has gotten quite picky about the dramas she does. Hence, when it was announced that she will be doing a drama named Qaraar opposite Mikal Zulfiqar, fans could not contain their excitement. The drama also stars Muneeb Butt, Ali Safina, and Rabab Hashim in lead roles. So far, Hum TV has only released one teaser of the drama and not much was revealed about the story. It did give away a bit of Sanam’s grey character. The avatar was definitely welcoming since the actress did an unremarkable job in her last drama, Main Na Janoo.
Chalawa
It is always excellent to see when channels put the effort into experimenting with new genres. Chalawa’s teasers did not give away much from the story, except that it is going to be a horror drama. With names like Naveen Waqar, Noor Zafar Khan, Ali Ansari, and Usama Khan attached to the drama, it would be interesting to see how these actors fare in this genre. The director of Chalawa, Najaf Bilgrami has already directed a horror drama, Dil Nawaz. Hence, it is safe to assume that the project is in good hands and fans shouldn’t watch the drama with lights closed.
Be Adab
It looks like director Shahzad Kashmiri has been busy. As one of his dramas Sabaat ends, he is already presenting his next drama, Be Adab. And it is headlined by none other than Sania Saeed. That name alone is enough for viewers to tune into a drama. Hum TV has released two teasers so far and judging from them, Sania is seen playing a disabled mother of ungrateful children. The drama has an ensemble cast, including Rehan Sheikh, Hajra Yamin, Faryal Mehmood, and the enthusiastic ‘Jazbat Badal Gaye’ cricket fan, Momin Saqib.
Fitrat
Saboor Aly and Ali Abbas are going to be headlining a drama on Geo TV titled Fitrat. From the released promos Saboor appears to be playing a modern character. Emotions of love and betrayal seem to be the driving point of the drama as the promos show glimpses of two couples in love but somehow they don’t end up being together. The drama also has Mirza Zain Baig and Ayesha Gul as leads. Fitrat is a 7th Sky Productions.
Kasa e Dil
Another 7th Sky Production, Kasa e Dil stars Affan Waheed, Hina Altaf, and Komal Aziz in the leading roles. A romantic drama, Kasa e Dil appears to be a love triangle between three characters. The character played by Affan Waheed seems to be stuck between his two wives, played by Hina and Komal respectively.
Aik Aur Munafiq
Titled Aik Aur Munafiq, the drama is an anthology show which will feature new stories every week. The promos for its first story shows the Aatish pairing of Hina Altaf and Azfar Rehman reuniting yet again for a love story that shows a physically impaired girl falling for a man who appears to be only pretending to love her for some ulterior motives. A 7th Sky Production, the drama promises to be something different than the other dramas currently on-air on Geo TV.
We look forward to all these new dramas and hope that they will provide the audience with something substantial to enjoy.
