Starring Farhan Saeed and Hiba Bukhari, HUM TV’s new venture Jhok Sarkar is an action packed, romance oriented powerplay that primarily focuses on fight between good and evil.
The first episode marks a promising start to the show. Coupled with awe inspiring visuals, an emotionally charged storytelling, and stellar performances, Jhok Sarkar instantly connects with the audience. The plot is engaging, and the ensemble cast surely leaves an impact.
Without further ado, here are 5 reasons why you should watch this one:
1. Jhok Sarkar has a Fast-Paced Plot
With the first episode in, the enemies are distinguished, and their power and influence has been established. The hero is ready for any obstacle in his path and is not going to surrender. With the groundwork laid well in the episode, we await the action now.
The first episode did not give us time to catch a break and set the premise of the drama well. The story follows the loves of oppressed people of Jhok Sial who are heavily influenced by the man named Peeral played by Asif Raza Mir and his son Meeral characterized by Usman Javed. The rich feudal lords have established greater supremacy and control over people of Jhok Sial, who live in fear and in a state of total submission.
In this desert area lives Sassi, played by Hiba Bukhari. The drama opens up with Sassi supporting her friend to run away from Jhok Sial to unite with the man she loves.
`On the other hand, we are introduced to the character of ASP Arsalan, who will soon be posted to Jhok Sial where he will challenge the status quo and will not surrender to the corrupt forces.
2. The lead characters
The first-time on-screen pairing of Farhan Saeed and Hiba Bukhari has us excited. We last saw Farhan Saeed in Mere Humsafar where he won the hearts of the entire nation for his character of Hamza, a loving and loyal husband devoted to his wife. While Hiba Bukhari garnered love for playing two empowering characters in dramas Meray Humnasheen and Pehchaan.
Hiba Bukhari who is playing the role of the girl in the village, Sassi is a teacher by profession. Although we didn’t see much of her in the first episode, we are looking forward to see her character unwrap.
While ASP Arsalan, characterized by Farhan Saeed, is an honest man dedicated to his profession. Hailing from a lower-middle class family, he understands the value of self-respect in one’s life. The character is shown to be attentive and respectful towards his parents and sisters, depicting him as the perfect hero with no flaws.
3. The Subplots are Interesting
Jhok Sarkar is an amalgamation of various plots well-knitted together, that are binding us to the drama and adding to the intrigue value.
Other than the lead characters, we are introduced to the character of Noori-Sassi’s best friend. The first episode ends with her getting caught after she attempts to run away with the person she likes. In the promo of the next episode, we are introduced to Peeral who shows his interest in her. Will she be forced to end up marrying Peeral by her father or would she find a way out?
We are also taken inside the household of Peeral where women are engrossed in the domestic politics that is weaved by hatred and envy.
Lastly, we are introduced to another character in the drama who is potentially interested in Arsalan. However, will Arsalan continue to pursue her after his posting in Jhok Sarkar? Will their relationship come to a halt because of Arsalan’s demanding career or the class difference between them? These subplots have successfully hooked the audience.
4. The Clear Message
The drama’s key message has been well-established in the first episode; the fight between good and evil.
(While we appreciate maker’s efforts to tell tales that have a message attached to it, however, we do hope that the message is subliminally ingrained in story and the drama doesn’t become too preachy).
5. The Serene Background in Jhok Sarkar
Director Saife Hassan is known for his choice of subliminal locations where his dramas are shot, case in point Ehd-e-wafa and Sang-e-Mar Mar. This time also the director has opted for a mesmerizing location of a desert where the village of Jhok Sial is located.
Written by Hashim Nadeem, directed by Saife Hassan and produced under the banner of Momina Duraid Productions, the cast of Jhok Sarkar includes, Farhan Saeed, Hiba Bukhari in the lead and a strong ensemble cast of Asif Raza Mir, Maham Shahid, Malik Raza, Saad Azhar, Asad Mumtaz Malik, Adeel Afzal, Mah-e-Noor Haider, Sajeer Uddin Khalifa, Saquib Sameer, Sakina Sammo, Ahsan Murad, Sikandar Nawaz, Hassan Niazi, Javed Iqbal, Sajjad Pal, Mazhar Suleman, Syed Muhammad Farooq Haider, Usman Javed, Sultan Haider, Haider Ali and others.
