Omair Rana, Salman Shahid, Mehreen Raheel and Faryal Goher starer neo-noir drama, Tamanna, about eight months after its cinematic release in Pakistan is all set to go global.
Directed by Steven Moore and produced by Sarah Tareen under the banner of Concordia Productions, Tamanna is set in the backdrop of Lahore’s struggling film industry and centres a game that has jealousy, greed and perhaps some love too in its back play.
Based on Anthony Shaffer’s famous play, Sleuth, Tamanna’s global digital distribution rights (Video-on-Demand and digital downloads) have been acquired by U.K. based ‘Mara Pictures;’ that in past has also released films like, Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Anurag Kashyap’s two part crime-drama, Gangs of Wasseypur.
The distributors will be releasing the film digitally in March 2015.
Talking about the digital release and collaboration with Mara Pictures; the producer of Tamanna, Sarah Tareen, while talking to Galaxy Lollywood said, “We are excited to collaborate with Mara pictures and look forward to bringing Tamanna to a global audience. As a filmmaker, this is a crucial time for Pakistani cinema in being a part of world cinema and to be a part of the new digital age.”
The film, beside other things, has been widely praised for its acting and music and even won the ‘Best Music Award’ at London Asian Film Festival for its track, Koi Dil Mein, sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
