She stole a million hearts with her mind-blowing performance in the commercial success “Zinda Bhaag” and then gave another brilliant performance in the film “Good Morning Karachi”. She won the critics over while at the same time had people gushing over her cute girl next door image. Yes, we are talking about Aamna Ilyas who has had probably one of the most successful transitions from modelling to acting.
The latest news on the actress is that she is back with another film! And guess what, this time the diva will be seen in a completely new avatar as she puts her action shoes on and graces the screen in her next action-packed film titled “DRIVEN.”
Directed by Michael Hudson and produced by Kamran Faiq and Naveed Mehmood the film is being termed as an action packed thriller and will be shot completely in Pakistan. Furthermore the film boasts of a very diverse cast which includes the likes of Aamna Ilyas, Javed Sheikh, Adnan Shah Tipu, Rehan Sheikh, Omair Rana, Najia Baig, Wahab Shah and Kamran Faiq.
Moreover what makes the film even more exciting is the fact that the entire film is being shot within a vintage Mercedes W126 S-Class1978. Yup! You read that right. If you thought “Tamanna”, which was entirely shot in one house, was something different for Pakistani cinema then hold on tight as “Driven” is taking things a few notches higher and will be exploring a never before seen genre in Pakistani Cinema.
Furthermore what has us more excited is the fact that “DRIVEN” is a co-production between Pakistan, Poland, UK and Russia. The project team includes Director from UK, Cinematographer from Poland, Sound Design Technician from Russia and the lead cast and crew from Pakistan.
Talking about the film, lead actress Aamna Ilyas says, “It is a fantastic experience being able to work with Michael (Hudson) and such a talented international cast and crew on home ground”. Adding further, Amna said“Being a part of this unique collaborative experience is immensely rewarding and I hope that DRIVEN marks the start of many more good things to come for the Pakistani Film Industry.”
Kamran Faiq, the lead actor and producer of the film talked about the film and said, “The unique thing about this film is its narrative. When I was approached by Michael to participate in this project as an actor and a producer, what struck me most about the film was the way it was written. It indulges the audience with the action on-screen. Working on this film with Amna (Ilyas), Javed (Sheikh) Sahib, (Adnan Shah) Tipu and Rehan (Sheikh) was an exceptional experience.”
DRIVEN’s award winning British film director Michael Hudson, while speaking about his upcoming film said: “Pakistan is currently experiencing a rebirth in cinema as it begins to tell it’s stories and find it’s voice.”
Currently not much is known about the shooting schedule and release date of the film but we at Galaxy Lollywood are really excited at the announcement of this film and cannot wait for it to hit cinemas.
