An Eros Now original, Wajahat Rauf’s new web series, Enaaya, finally made its way to its home platform on January 20, 2019. The first episode of the series was also uploaded on YouTube for promotional purposes and things look good, to say the least.
Starring Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman, Asad Siddiqui, and Faryal Mehmood in lead roles, the web series, however, is currently under fire by Fahad Mustafa for some of its content.

Fahad Mustafa Says: Web Series or Porn
After watching the series; we don’t know how much of it, Fahad Mustafa took to Twitter and threw some major shade on it.
Nudity ,abusive language and just talking about sex is not content .lets not call it freedom of speech ! Actors selling themselves very cheaply its not cool at all .web series and short films needs to be a little dignified or they should just call it porn ..
— Fahad Mustafa (@fahadmustafa26) January 26, 2019
Rather blatantly, Fahad equated Enaaya with porn because of its abusive language and bold scenes. Now even though Fahad Mustafa didn’t mention any names, it is not hard to decipher which web series the tweet referred to. Enaaya is literally Pakistan’s first web-series and it came out only a week ago.
So, the first time a director finally tries to be experimental and brave with the content, the renowned names from the industry are the first ones to throw shade. Firstly, we believe there’s a reason Wajahat Rauf chose the internet as a dissemination platform for his web series.
You cannot simply be too experimental, or even organic with language and stories, on electronic media, at least not in the current censorship-heavy environment. Secondly, Fahad Mustafa’s tweet can hardly be counted as constructive criticism as it just attacks without any solid logic whatsoever.
Jami to the Rescue
However, not all hope is lost. If one member of the industry was up for criticizing the web series, another stood up in Wajahat’s defense.
Jami quite aptly called Fahad out on social media; without, of course, naming any names, and reminded him that he his no saint here either. Jami reminded the actor to look back at the item numbers in his films (Billi and Kaif-o-Suroor) before making vulgarity accusations on others.
History to the Animosity
Amusingly, there is another aspect that needs to be factored into the entire situation. Just a few months back, Ahmed Ali Butt went live on his Instagram, and the video had Humayun Saeed, Fahad Mustafa, Kubra Khan, Vasay Chaudhry, and Ahmed Ali Butt himself.
It’s common knowledge that Kubra Khan will be starring in Wajahat Rauf’s Karachi Se Lahore 3, which is currently on hold as the director has moved to his next, but at that time it wasn’t sure if Kubra was a part of the film. The four of them were laughing around and subtly poking fun at Kubra, Wajahat Rauf, and just generally Karachi Se Lahore 3. It was, beyond any doubt, in bad taste.
Wajahat Rauf had then replied to this video with a cryptic status, which again doesn’t mention names, but it’s not hard to decipher, given the timing.
Here the question arises; could Fahad Mustafa and co. have a personal vendetta against Wajahat Rauf or is it just that he doesn’t see eye to eye with the kind of work the latter does? It’s a question only Fahad Mustafa can answer.
