Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has been in the eye of the storm ever since he made some startling revelations recently on the Morning@Home show hosted by Nadia Khan on PTV. On that program, this is what Khalil sahib had said:
On Saba Hameed and Mahmood Aslam
“God willing, I will not be working with Saba Hameed and Mahmood Aslam ever. I may be able to forgive Saba Hameed though, but I hope not to work ever again with someone as dishonest. I have never seen such dishonest people in my life, who have been so dishonest with their work,” said Khalil sahib expressing his anger laden sentiments about these two senior actors, who according to him, left Kaaf Kangana‘s shoot midway through their respective spells.
Explaining his grievances further, Khalil sahib said: “Mahmood Aslam charged Rs 1 lac more than was agreed, but after Saba Hameed left (Kaaf Kangana), he decided to quit the film as well without informing me, although I had considered him to be an old friend.”
On Urwa Hocane

“I have serious reservations about someone I used to call my younger sister – Urwa Hussain. I shared a family-like relationship with her and her husband (Farhan Saeed). Working with her, however, I was forced to take anti-anxiety medication during the last 7 days of my shoot with her. She behaved in quite a high handed manner, turning late on shoots and causing issues with make-up crew members, etc.”
Industry union ACT responds
ACT strongly protests the public bashing of actors aired on 18.10.19 on ‘Morning at Home with Ms Nadia Khan’ on PTV. As the State Television we expect PTV to set & maintain high standards & take serious action to both set the record straight & assure such actions are not repeated

The Actors Collective Trust (ACT) of Pakistan reacted strongly to Khalil sahib’s statements and posted a statement protesting the “public bashing of actors” on Nadia Khan’s show and asked PTV to “take serious action to both set the record straight and assure (sic) such actions are not repeated.” Noted thespian Hina Khwaja Bayat endorsed ACT’s tweet on her Instagram account.
A win-win for the director and Kaaf Kangana?
It seems Khalil sahib wanted all his concerns about industry personalities he had issues with during the tumultuous shoot of Kaaf Kangana out in the open. And then controversy is, of course, no stranger to the celebrated writer – last year around the same time, he stated that he was “scared after working with Urwa Hocane,” to which Urwa had responded by stating that she “had tremendous respect for Khalil sahib as a senior.”
Now with the Nadia Khan show controversy, he also simultaneously upped the buzz level for his cross border romantic drama Kaaf Kangana that hits screens tomorrow on Friday. A win-win situation, for him and his film, perhaps?
