Pakistan International Film Festival Set To Be a Treat For Animation Enthusiasts

The second edition of Pakistan International Film Festival (PiFF) will be held from 25th to 27th October in Karachi. With Pakistan’s animation industry picking up steam, this year the festival is set to focus exclusively on international and domestically produced animated films. The three-day event will have multiple activities lined up including seminars, workshops and film screenings along with three Pakistan premiers of international productions.  

Notable filmmakers to attend

Featured among the list of participants will be the who’s who of Pakistan’s animation and film industry, including filmmaker Sana Tauseef, who produced animated film Tik Tok in 2018, Amyn Farooqui Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Sharp Image, Aziz Jindani, director of The Donkey King and Arif Jilani, the producer of the internationally acclaimed Bilal – A New Breed of Hero. The aforementioned filmmakers will conduct a series of interactive discussions and workshops that will be a treat for animation enthusiasts.  

Six feature-length films to be screened

PiFF will be screening the following set of films, which include several major Pakistani blockbusters from the previous year.

  • Bilal: A New Breed of Hero 
  • Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor 
  • Mary & The Witch’s Flower
  • Modest Heroes (Ponoc Short Films Theatre, Volume 1)
  • The Donkey King
  • 3 Bahadur: Rise of the Warriors

In addition to the aforementioned six feature-length films, several short films will also be showcased.

 A chance not to be missed!

With the participation of international filmmakers as well as a not to be missed chance to interact with a large number of accomplished filmmakers, the festival will be of definite interest to animation enthusiasts, children as well as students, academics and film technicians. The annual festival is organized by the Karachi Film Society, a non-profit that is backed by industry big-wigs such as Sultana Siddiqui, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, and Javed Jabbar, amongst others.
