When it comes to the world of controversy, singer and actress Rabi Pirzada is no stranger. Just the previous month, the Shor Sharaba actress had tweeted her picture wearing a faux explosive-vest in support of the Kashmir cause. While some Twitteratis appreciated her sentiments, she ignited a twitter-storm with her choice of artistic expression in support of Kashmiri resistance.
Now, news is surfacing that Rabi has had her personal data on her mobile phone compromised. While this is still a developing story, it is highly probable that this breach of private data is going to be treated as a cyber-crime and investigated by the agencies.
The leak and theft of private data is a punishable offense under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) of 2016, with a prison sentence of up to 7 years and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore. Data theft crimes are usually investigated by government agencies such as FIA, and this is not the first time a data breach has taken place vis-à-vis a celebrity. Last year in June, Saba Qamar had her pictures that were taken in between a photo-shoot leaked without her due consent, an incident which attracted its own share of controversy. Today’s high profile incident comes amidst increased calls by privacy advocates to bring criminals responsible for data theft to book.
Following the data breach, #RabiPirzada was the top trend on Twitter whereas other online social platforms were also abuzz with activity about the celebrity. Many social media users strongly urged fellow netizens to not view or share the leaked material and respect Rabi’s privacy.
Rabi has been much in the news
Just last month, the Mujhe ishq hai songstress posted a video where she was posing with many deadly-looking snakes and alligators. With the slithering reptiles in tow, Rabi made a political statement against Prime minister Modi of India over India’s de-facto annexation of the disputed region.
Continuing with her unique brand of political activism, she tweeted just a few days back:
Dare you, can you drive as fast as i can…

Gains at atleast 15K followers on twitter
Following her data leak, Rabi Pirzada’s twitter account has gained around 15,000 followers and she is now being followed by over 102,000 followers. She is yet to comment on her data theft and its subsequent leakage on her official social media accounts, although reports suggest that she will be seeking help of the Cyber Crime Cell to zero-down and arrest the culprits under the cyber-crime act.
