GEO’s telefilm Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam refused to succumb to the pressure of competing telefilms releasing this Eid-ul-Adha and managed to make its way to the top.
Due to its stellar cast, refreshing storyline and of course the mega cameo by Pakistan’s biggest stars-Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed- the telefilm undoubtedly managed to win the battle in the sea of telefilms.
Entertainment Packed in Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam:
Penned by Sheheryar Munawar, the telefilm broke the influx of stereotypical storylines and added something exciting and refreshing to the mix.
It follows the story of a couple in their 60s, Jahangir (played by Salman Shahid) and Zubi (played by Simi Raheal) who dedicate their entire lives to raising their children, Ayesha and Kareem. Once their children are settled down, they focus on the wellbeing of each other and strive to find happiness in the company of each other.
However, this is not well received by their children who find it odd that their parents are adopting an unconventional and carefree lifestyle while spending money.
The telefilm embodies reactions and emotions of different members of society and holistically presents the reasons for certain behaviors of characters that amalgamates seamlessly into a single narrative.
It talks in depth about the societal taboo associated with senior citizens having a life of their own and highlights the reactions of different members of society. While some are welcoming and praise the couple by calling them ‘couple goals’ others demean them for living a fulfilling life.
In addition, the portrayal of Jahangir and Zubi has been done aptly well by Salman Shahid and Simi Raheal respectively and their scenes added humor and awe-worthy moments simultaneously which made this telefilm the perfect blend of being thought-provoking and entertaining.
Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed’s romantic cameo:
The Bin Roye duo made a surprise appearance on-screen that in itself was an eidi for all their fans. The silver screen stars won hearts even with a short cameo, reiterating their star power.
Mahira Khan donned a red sari her signature loose curls and red pout. Needless to say, she looked stunning as she stepped out in the rain with from the car. While Humayun Saeed looked charming as always and his star power was evident even with just a minute of screen time. They added the spark in the telefilm, making it larger than life and setting the tone for the rest of it.
