Sajal Aly Opens Up About Her Career Choices And Emotional Connections

Ruling the hearts of millions of people across the globe, Sajal Aly has carved her own niche and fanbase over the years that recognizes her for her powerful performances and her timeless beauty. She toiled in her acting career by taking on different projects and gaining international recognition after featuring in the film ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It?’

Her loyal fanbase couldn’t wait to see the actress sit for an interview. Sajal finally graced the screen and sat for an interview with the hosts of the show Star & Style on PTV. Sajal Aly shared her insights into the world of acting, addressing the challenges and joys associated with representing Pakistan globally. As the actress recalled her memorable previous projects, she also hinted towards a future project which will be released soon.

The actress expressed how she feels that benchmarks to do things shouldn’t be established based on age. While talking about her project ARY Digital‘s ‘Kuch Ankahi’ the actress added that since Salman loved Aaliya, the central characters in ‘Kuch Ankahi’, he wouldn’t mind waiting for her. The actress said, “Sometimes you do things at 25 and realise this is not the right person.”

Sajal also candidly expressed the responsibility she feels on her shoulders when representing Pakistan internationally. Sajal said, “I get scared…it’s a responsibility when you leave Pakistan and have to represent Pakistan. But you enjoy as well.”

“But you learn,” she added. “At times you don’t know where you are. Whenever I do a project, I feel that I am starting from zero and doing it for the first time.” She stressed the importance of approaching her work with honesty and drew inspiration from her mother and those around her, noting, “My house help is my inspiration currently.”

Projects

Reflecting on her past projects, Sajal praised the ensemble cast of  ‘Kuch Ankahi’ saying, “Everyone did great in it. Vaneeza praised everyone was so good.” She acknowledged that some characters, despite having fewer scenes, leave a significant impact, sharing a humorous anecdote about a friend missing her character during a brief restroom break.

Discussing her emotional connection to roles, Sajal revealed, “I am emotional. With time there might be a layer now which makes people think that I am very strong. But I am not going to kill my emotions because otherwise how am I going to perform.” Drawing parallels with ‘Alif’, she recounted a poignant moment from her career, when she received her first award for ‘Gul e Rana’ just a month after her mother’s death. She recalled the scene from ‘Alif’ where the central character received her first award after her brother passed away. Sajal further added that while playing ‘Alif’ she would recall several moments of her personal life.

“In some scenes, I remembered my mother,” she shared. Despite the emotional challenges, Sajal emphasised her commitment to authentic performances, stating, “I am not going to kill my emotions because otherwise how am I going to perform.”

The actress also hinted towards doing a project. She did not reveal any details, but we hope to see her embracing a new role really soon.
