It is commonly believed in our film fraternity that being attached to Pakistani superstar Meera means self-invitation to controversies, but this time however, it isn’t our super star because of whom her upcoming Indian film 5 Ghantey Mein 5 Crore (eng. 50 million in 5 hours) is nowadays making controversial headlines. Instead, this controversy has resulted actually because of a clash between the director of 5 Ghantey mein 5 Crore and Pakistani singer Jawad Abbas.
Jawad; who has also been the lead vocalist of Irzaan band in past, in his recent media appearance; accused Faisal Saif (Director of 5 Ghantey Mein 5 Crore) for not fulfilling his promises of including two of his songs in the movie as discussed between both of them some times back.
“They contacted me when I was part of the band about two and half years back asking us for our song Yadein Teri which they wanted to be included in their movie 5 Ghantey Mein 5 Crore. Fulfilling their requirements, we send them the required version of the song on time and they were all set to make it part of their movie,” said Jawad in his interview to E News.
Furthermore he said, “Near to the completion of the film few months back, Faisal again contacted me asking for my services to remake the famous Punjabi song—Wey Sonney Deya Kangna–of Madam Noor Jahan in Urdu as they wanted it too to be part of their movie. Though I was 2-3 days late in sending them the required version but still I fulfilled my commitment and made them aware of the reasons because of which it got late. But despite all my hard work and effort, they pulled these tracks out of the movie and that remake version of Madam Noor Jahan’s song was done by some other artist from India.
Digging further into the matter; we also got to know that no official contract was signed or agreed upon between both the parties and all these dealings were done on the basis of mere mutual understandings and some e-mail transcripts between Faisal and Jawad.
To get all these allegations by Jawad answered; Galaxy Lollywood contacted the director of the movie Faisal Saif.
Replying to the allegations related to Irzaan band’s song Yedein Teri, Faisal said, well first let me confess one thing here; Jawad no doubt is really a good singer and I think he has a bright future in industry. Now coming back to his allegations, Yes, I contacted them for their song to be included in my film, they gave me non-exclusive rights of it and till very much end I had the intentions of making that track part of the movie, but later on I got to know that their song was already uploaded by the band on YouTube long ago, making the song less valued in overall market and so I had to make the decision of not including it in the movie. I made Jawad aware of my this move and he was pretty much Ok with it.”
“As far as the Urdu version of Madam Noor Jahan’s song is concerned, I requested Jawad to do it and gave him a particular deadline against which he was almost ‘a month and half’ late because of his clash with his former band I assume. I was pushed by my music distribution company to not pursue the contract as more than a month is a long time and we had to meet our music launch deadline because of which we finally had to turn down the deal and the song was then done by famous Indian singer Shibani Kashyap and Leonard Victor.” Said Faisal further in his defense.
Despite all this, repeating this many times in his interview Faisal said, “Though I can’t think of a reason why Jawad is making fuss of it because as I said earlier, ‘he was aware of all the activities we were doing regarding his tracks’, but still if he feels being misused; I can do nothing but to say sorry a million times, maybe this would make him feel better.”
Besides that, Praising Pakistani talent in general Faisal said, “I have always been the fan of Pakistani talent and that’s the reason I have been linked with many big names such as singer Ali Haider and Rustam Fateh Ali Khan in past, but I guess there are some people constantly bringing bad name to the country which I believe must not happen and If someone is willing to work, he/she must be professional in it.”
We believe all such conflicts and issues must be resolved as quickly as possible, else it would affect none but both the parties involved in it.
As for an update on the film, it would be of your interest that release date of the movie has been announced and the film is now all set to make its cinema appearance from 20th January 2012 in India, Pakistan, USA, Canada and UK simultaneously.
