Gear up everyone, Waar’s sequel has hit the road

Not even when we, in Pakistan, have fully gotten over the blast Waar has hit the film industry with, the sequel to the film, Waar 2, has already started making headlines. Already recorded as Pakistan’s highest grossing movie of all time, Waar is still running in local cinemas with people still trying to get over the “masterpiece” Pakistan film industry has created.

ARY Film & Mindworks MediaDr. Hassan Waqas Rana, producer of Waar and CEO of Mindworks Media, inked an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) yesterday on 7 December with Mr. Salman Iqbal (Founder and President ARY Networks), for the production of two high-octane action packed thrillers to be produced and released over next two years.

As per the MoU, Mindworks Media, over the next two years will produce two high quality action-thrillers with far bigger budgetsDelta Echo Foxtrot (D.E.F) and much grander production value. Amongst these two projects, Delta Echo Foxtrot (D.E.F) will see the cinema light first by releasing somewhere in next year, while Waar‘s sequel, the second joint venture project, is set for the year after that (2015).

D.E.F as per the press release will be another ‘Hi-Octane action packed roller coaster ride…about Courage, Sacrifice, Passion and patriotism.’ The cast is being finalised these days and will have a mix and match of stardom and the fresh talent for which auditions are underway these days. The shooting of the movie will commence from late this month.

Waar 2, on the other hand, will prove to be an even bigger monster of its sort by being shot in multiple countries including Pakistan, U.K, Turkey, Russia and Yugoslavia. Not only that, it will also have a good chunk of international actors alongside the Pakistani stars while the crew will also have a blend of local and foreign elements. The sequel as reported by Dawn and Express Tribune will this time be directed by Hassan Waqas Rana himself, the press release though doesn’t shed light on this aspect of the film.

Speaking at the occasion, Hassan Rana said, “We want all projects to be the game changers and we want to push ourselves to the very edge of what is possible, we just hope that we can come up to the expectations which the people of Pakistan have with us.”

Mr. Salman also shared the views of Mr. Rana and said, “The fans of Pakistani cinema have proved that if we make a good film, they will watch and appreciate it. I am sure that our new joint ventures WAAR 2 and Delta Echo Foxtrot with Mind works Media will bring even more spectacular entertainment to the cinema screens of Pakistan and beyond!”

Furthermore, Salman also added that the budget for Waar‘s sequel has been set as the double of what was the original film’s budget and that this time they aim to give the film a simultaneous release all over the world. He also mentioned that Hollywood movies take the help of animation when they are supposed to show scenes with huge crowds, but we in this film will use actual people numbering as big as 100,000 – 150, 000 to do so.

Also present on the occasion to witness the ceremony were, Humayun Saeed, Syed Noor, Ayesha Omer, Fahad Mustafa and Ainy Jafferi.

–Waar all set for its Arabian voyage:

After a monstrous response to the film on box office, ARY Films is now taking Waar on its international ride. The first stop of the film outside Pakistan will be UAE where the film is locked for release on 12 December 2013.

The cast of the film including, Shaan Shahid, Shamoon Abbasi, Ayesha Khan, Ali Azmat and Meesha Shafi, for the same purpose will be present in Dubai on the release date and will walk on the red carpet for movie’s Dubai premiere.

Galaxy Lollywood wish the team Waar and the team of its sequel the very best of luck for the success of their projects and will also request the expat Pakistanis to fully support the quality efforts coming out of Pakistan.

  1. Waar was waar because it was directed by Bilal Lashari. Bilal lashari has experience with direction from music videos, and also he studied movie direction from American universitiy.Bilal lashari is an educated and experienced director in his field.

Does mr Hassan waqas rana have any of that? Has mr Hassan waqas ever directed a music video, a commercial video? Or even a home video for that matter? If no then how can he take such a big project? Also is he gonna waste his budget on crowd of 100,000? Who is gonna pay for that. This sounds like a poor directing decision.

The quality of movie direction is determined by how artistically the scene is shoot, not by how many actors are on the scene.

Direction is art. Does mr waqas rana have artistic skills? A learned aesthetic sense?

I hope mr waqas rana hires an educated professional director, instead of poorly directing a movie himself.

If mr Hassan waqas rana directs this movie, then I have a feeling it would be a big disappointment.

I am looking for the next movie which mr bilal lashari directs.
