Its a norm worldwide that when a film becomes a hit , the general public wants a sequel, or wants the same group of actors in another film. When Waar released last year , it became more then just a success. Waar was a game-changer and finally gave the Pakistani Film Industry something to be proud of. So after its release everyone wanted a sequel. The makers responded and a sequel was announced. But due to story continuation, many actors from the first part had to be chopped of from the sequel. But worry not ,Shamoon Abassi has decided to recreate the “Waar” magic for he has casted Shaan Shahid and Hamza Abassi in his directorial debut called “Gidh”, where he himself is playing the negative lead. Hence the Waar trio of Shaan-Shamoon-Hamza is coming back again on the silver screen.
Gidh was announced ages back, but for one reason or the other it kept on getting postponed. But it was Shamoon Abassi’s passion for quality cinema that kept the project alive, and finally the film is it’s shooting stage with a Winter 2014 release date in mind. Here it should be mentioned that earlier it was Humayun Saeed who was all set to play the lead role but due to date issues he has now been replaced by Shaan Shahid. Also there have been other tweaks in the cast and the final cast includes Shaan Shahid, Shamoon Abassi,Sara Loren, Hamza Abassi,Saima Azhar, Shoaib Khalid, Rahma Ali ( Iman Ali’s sister) among others.
The plot of the film is about loss, anger, revenge and is set against the backdrop of the film actors and their interactions with the media/police.
Talking exclusively to Galaxy Lollywood, Shamoon Abassi told that ” We will be releasing the teaser trailer in a week and will also be sharing more information about the film then. We are in process of updating the page of the film on facebook and our busy with other minor details.”
