Faraz Inam of Alpha Bravo Charlie writes debut Novel, movie in process

So you all know who Faraz Inam is, right? No? Okay, well there is no way you don’t know who Captain Faraz is then, yeah, that smart hunk from the all time hit TV series Alpha Bravo Charlie, the Alpha of the series. Every time you watch that series; and its prequel, Sunehrey Din, for that matter, it’s an experience, it just never bores you.

So the news from the house is that Faraz Inam, the actor behind the character of Captain Faraz, has now authored his debut novel, The Misunderstood Ally, published in 2013, and the book is receiving wide praises since then, so much so, that a Hollywood film adaptation is very much on the cards.Faraz Inam 2

Fundamentally a geopolitical thriller, the story of the novel is set right in the middle of the ongoing war on terrorism. The story revolves around three diverse characters, connected by a common thread due to their duty calls but more so because of their personal believes for things around them. The novel maybe a Pakistani’s perspective on the situation around him, but the book, and the author in particular are being widely praised in all relevant circles for rightly doing justice to three main stories in the novel.

In one of his latest interviews on a morning show at PTV World, Faraz; talking about the book, also revealed that not only the book has been reviewed positively by KIRKUS REVIEWS (one of the biggest book reviewing magazines), which it rarely does for a debut novel, but the novel has already been converted into a script and submitted to particular movie studios in Hollywood for its big screen adaptation—that too by the publishers of the book on their own, voluntarily.

In latest of movie adaptations on Pakistani novels, Mohin Hamid’s, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, got to be captured by the same name for big screen by ace Indian film director, Mira Nair.

Faraz currently resides in UAE and is a full time corporate banker by profession. Pakistanis obviously know him more for being the star of the most successful drama in the history of Pakistani Television to date. We really hope the novel reaches more heights, and this perspective from Pakistan also gets to make its space in these times of misinformation, wrong perceptions and one half pictures.

Read in detail about the novel here.

Update: Previously the article read the novel to be a ‘war-thriller’, the genre has been corrected to ‘geopolitical thriller’ in the recent update on text.
