This article features four of the most awaited upcoming films, that also happen to be releasing sooner than others this year. So let’s see which among these four should you start saving money for, and for what reasons.

Operation 021 PosterOperation 021:
Going by the order of the list in Coming Attractions page, Operation 021 is the first film we talk about. For details, click here and be directed to our dedicated page on the movie. The first authentic spy-thriller there is in Pakistan film industry, Operation 021 is one of the most awaited films of the year.

Yays:

  • O21 and BourneWatch it if you are a spy-geek. Watch it if you have been an ardent James Bond or Jason Bourne fan. Watch it if you keep an appetite for stories that rarely come out of the closed doors. Watch it if you like high-paced action-thrillers. Watch it for Shaan.
  • Watch O21 for its sheer slickness, the particular aura that has been specially given to it, putting it at par with similar Hollywood films. Just watch it for being the best thing to come out of Pakistan.

Nays:

  • Don’t watch it if you don’t like, what you may say, ‘brainy content’; the deep plots, the worked-out situations, the calculated moves, the stark backgrounds and games within games and moves and counter-moves.

dukhtar

Dukhtar:

Afia Nathanial’s drama flick tells a tale of a strong mother who has her daughter to save from her premature marriage to an elderly man of influence in an oppressive circle she and her daughter are part of. For a more devoted piece on the movie, click here. You can also watch the movie’s teaser trailer here.

Yays:

  • Ajab Gul - Dukhtar
    Ajab Gul

Watch it if you have liked, loved and watched Shoaib Mansoor stuff in past. From it’s synopsis, Dukhtar is a drama film, from it’s teaser-trailer it has that roller-coster-ride feel. So, a drama-thriller you can say. Watch it for Samiya Mumtaz – for she is an absolutely one of the most refined talents Pakistan have. Watch it for Mohib Mirza, and watch for Adnan Shah Tipu, these people are the master craftsmen in the industry. Also, very importantly, watch it for the great Ajab Gul. Ajab is on a return to mainstream film industry with this film, and he is a face that has been dearly missed.

  • Also watch it if you want to see some beautiful locales in a film. The film has been shot on a great range of places in Pakistan and mostly it’s northern areas. Watch it if you want to see the eighth wonder of the world on big screen, Pakistan’s Karakoram Highway.

Nays:

  • Don’t watch it if you are not a big social-film fan, those with messages in them. Don’t watch it if you want big stars, beautiful actresses, some songs here and there and an item number in a film. Don’t watch it if you watch movies for their commercial value. This is not a commercial film at all.

Sultanat Poster

Sultanat:

Syed Faisal Bukhari’s star studded, multi-million rupee action film. Produced by Aslam Bhatti, the film is not only said to be based on his life story, but he also plays the main lead himself. For more details on the film, click here.

Sultanat 1Yays:

  • Watch it for its star value. The film has a crazy mix of actors that we would all love to be amazed by, their combined prowess. Watch it for its Indian factor, a number of known faces from India are part of the film and surely some havoc is going to be wrecked by them along with our own stars.
  • Watch the film if you advocate that item numbers make for an integral part of a film, because this one would feature not just one, but two amazing dance numbers. Watch it for it’s exotic locations; the film has been shot on various international spots including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and even UAE. Watch it to get one final glimpse of the pre-plastic surgery Sarah Loren, the actress was shot for this film when she used to be Mona Lizza in Pakistan.

Nays:

  • Don’t watch if you are not a big ‘Bollywood model’ fan. Don’t watch if you don’t enjoy the overload of guns, action and ladies grooving on cheesy songs. Don’t watch it if you don’t want to see Aslam Bhatti playing his own-self in a movie he himself financed. Don’t watch it if you are one of those people who think script and acting is what makes a movie and not dance numbers and exotic location.

Na Maloom Afraad

Na Maloom Afraad:

A full crazy-as-hell comedy flick directed by Nabeel Qureshi. Nabeel is basically known for his association with Banana News Network of Geo Television, and man, has he not brought the same magic into his directorial debut feature? For more about the film, be directed to its dedicated page here.

Yays:

  • This....Mehwish Hayat
    This….Mehwish Hayat

Watch it solely for its comedy. Watch it if you are tired of watching the same socio-political-drama that has been produced in Pakistan film industry ever since this renaissance of it has taken place. Watch it to see Javed Sheikh and Fahad Mustafa in an ever different fast-paced comic avatar. Watch it to know a bit about life in Karachi.

  • Watch it, and I know most of you have been waiting for me to say this, for Mehwish Hayat’s bombshell item number. Watch it to just forget your problems for an hour or so and be entertained.

Nays:

  • Don’t watch it if you are not a slapstick comedy fan. Don’t go for it if you don’t fall for item numbers in a movie. Don’t watch it if you would rather go for a more serious and slick stuff that is on the show.
