Zara Sheikh finally returns to big screen this February

By Aayan Mirza

It is definitely to her credit that at the time when being an actor in Pakistan film industry only meant being an actor in substandard formula films, Zara Sheikh, unlike many of her fellow actresses, kept herself at bay from such projects and only did a project that would manage to lift itself up from the usual formula.

And thus no doubt that brands like Mobilink and Bonanza exist in her portfolio and no doubt that she was the face that the famed Saqib Malik chose to be paired up with the superstar Shaan Shahid while directing, what now stands as a classic; the music video of Fuzon’s super-hit ‘Khamaj’.

Zara because of her past of selective appearances has a comparatively small, but an almost cult like following, and well, today there is a good news for that following of hers. Zara Sheikh is coming back on the big screen and that too with not just one but two films, releasing back to back.

DevdasYes, you read it right. The first to release would be the long pending Nadeem Shah and Meera starer Devdas which had been shelved years back due to the producer not having enough release budget. Directed by the veteran film director Iqbal Kashmiri, this one will be released all across Pakistan on 20th February 2015.

It is hard to say whether the film would release on multiplexes or not, as it may only be releasing with 35 mm prints, but it would definitely be screened by the single screen cinemas all across country.

Honour KillingThe second Zara Sheikh film to release this February would be her debut Bollywood venture, Honour Killing. Starring Javed Sheikh, Gulshan Grover and Sandeep Singh alongside Zara, Honour Killing will release in Pakistan on 27th February 2015. The film has a UK and Canadian release planned too.

Directed by the Indian director Avtar Bhogal, Honour Killing will be released in Pakistan under the banner of Geo Films. The promotion for film will be commencing from the 1st of February.

Zara Sheikh in Honour Killing 2The release of these two films can bring Zara Sheikh back to the mainstream film scene of the country. But for that, you the fans of her, have to make these upcoming releases of her a success. So gear yourselves up and do it this time for one and only Zara Sheikh.
