The team behind biggest ever hit of Pakistani film industry Jawani Phir Nahi Ani is teaming up for another mega project Punjab Nahi Jaungi staring Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat. The film is another joint venture between ARY Films and Humayun Saeed’s production house Six Sigma Films and directed by JPNA director Nadeem Baig, who is riding high on the success of this year’s hit TV serial Dil Lagi.
The lead cast of Punjab Nahi Jaungi was recently confirmed when Iman Ali, the first choice for the film, opted out of the project due to ‘personal reasons’ and was replaced by Mehwish Hayat, who is on the roll after the phenomenal success of TV serial Dil Lagi with Humayun Saeed and Eid release Actor in Law with Fahad Mustafa.
The shoot for the film recently begins in Karachi, as the behind the scene photos were shared by the makers of the film through an official press release. It is also revealed that the funny-man Ahmad Ali Butt is also playing a prominent supporting character in the film.

Punjab Nahi Jaungi is penned by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, the name behind many successful TV serials including Pyaray Afzal (ARY Digital) and Sadqay Tumharay (HUM TV). Qamar returns as the script writer more than a decade after writing the script of Reema Khan’s first production Koi Tujh Sa Kahan (2004).
The film is expected to hit the cinemas in 2017.
