Yeah, you read it right, and we had to clear our ears too when we heard that Aamir Liaquat is planning a Netflix film. The member National Assembly and televangelist, Aamir Liaquat is working on a feature film project with his second wife, Tuba, and he is doing it for the online entertainment portal, Netflix.

After much controversy about their marriage, the newly-wedded pair recently made interview appearances on a couple of TV shows. It was in one those shows that the PTI lawmaker revealed his Netflix plans, and announced that his wife Tuba would star in the project as a lead protagonist.

Netflix, Aamir Liaquat, and Censorship

Appearing on Sanam Baloch’s morning show on Samaa TV, Liaquat said, “In the shape of Tuba, I am giving a beautiful face to the industry.” When the host Sanam Baloch enquired further about it, Liaquat revealed that he has already started producing a film project for Netflix, where Tuba stars as the lead protagonist.

The star television host also hinted that he might very well be starring opposite his wife in the project and said, “If we are together in a film, there would obviously be not much requirement for censorship.” He, however, was quick to add that it will be a sort of film that people will enjoy with their families.

Not the First Time for Aamir Liaquat

It is pertinent to mention here that this is not the first time Aamir Liaquat has been associated with films. Back in 2016, veteran director Syed Noor announced that he is casting the TV host in one of his upcoming movies.

Talking about his casting choice, Noor said that the project was a different kind of love story and that Aamir Liaquat was perfect for it. Liaquat was supposed to star opposite Noor’s actress wife, Saima, in the project.

It’s been about two years since the announcement came but we are yet to hear of any progress on that one. For now, we assume that the film is shelved for good.

Not the First Pakistani Netflix Original

If the Aamir Liaquat feature film does work out for good as it is intended, it wouldn’t be the first Pakistani Netflix Original. Back in late 2017, actor Zahid Hamid claimed in an interview to BBC Asian Network, that he is working on the first original Pakistani production for Netflix. The details were not shared.

Similarly, back in September this year, we reported to you that the director of Karachi Se Lahore, Wajahat Rauf, is teaming up with actress Mehwish Hayat for a web series, which you may soon find on a big platform like Netflix or Iflix.

Well, coming back to Aamir Liaquat, the Syed Noor project may not be that enticing, but if the Netflix claim is true, it would definitely be something to look out for. Our congratulations to the couple on their marriage and well wishes for their plans about the film.
