Breaking: PEMRA Orders A Ban On Drama Serial ‘Jalan’

The news of PEMRA taking notice of content that goes against the religious, ethical, and moral values of the Pakistani society had surfaced a few days ago. PEMRA had given out a statement that had banned the re-runs of dramas Ishqiya and Pyar Kay Sadqay from airing on televisions.

In the same statement, the fate of the on-going drama serial Jalan was still left undecided. PEMRA was still investigating the content of the drama and based on the investigation, the drama’s fate was to be decided.

Well, the verdict is out now.

Jalan is banned

PEMRA has released a statement banning the drama serial Jalan from airing on television. The statement reads that PEMRA has put an immediate ban on the drama as it goes against the social and moral ethics of Pakistani society.

The statement also reads that PEMRA had given repeated warnings to the channel ARY Digital to revise the content of Jalan to make it more in accordance with the social and moral ethics of Pakistani society. However, the channel refused to comply with PEMRA’s warnings.

As a result, PEMRA has now but an immediate ban on the drama. Jalan includes a plotline that depicts an illicit affair between a brother-in-law with his sister-in-law. The outrage regarding the drama’s storyline has been present on social media ever since the drama started airing.
