Even though Aswad from ‘Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay’ is getting all the hatred for being so crude to Mehreen in the drama, we know it’s all due to the acting expertise of the very talented Usman Mukhtar.
Usman Mukhtar doesn’t need any introduction. Not only an ace director but an actor who knows how to deliver his best, no matter what character is entrusted to him. Recently he is winning hearts all over albeit a little anger from his audience for playing indifferent and blind to Mehreen, but it might come as a surprise to many that initially, Usman Mukhtar had turned the character down.
The Reason Behind It
“When ‘Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay’ was offered to me, I was a little hesitant to portray Aswad’s character as I felt he is too toxic,” said the ‘Sabaat’ star.
Adding further about his complicated process of choosing his characters, Usman stated: “I am generally picky too. A lot of people say to me too that why do you think so much before saying yes to scripts. Even my wife says, think about it but not too much as it’s just my work. I was also not comfortable with a few things about Aswad and even told the producers they could replace me.”
Usman Mukhtar also shared how as a responsible man and having a say on social media, he felt he had a responsibility to not portray scenes where Aswad was being too toxic to handle for Mehreen. “There were also a few scenes which required Aswad to manhandle Mehreen but I refused to do them and wanted to tone them down. I didn’t want the audience to see this and say if the hero is doing this, we can do it too,” said Usman.
Maybe A Different Ending?
The actor also added that he had later had a discussion with the team about Aswad’s character and suggested a few changes in it. “We changed many things in Aswad’s character. I refused to portray a violent character. The team cooperated with me and changed what I requested them to change in the script.” Giving the viewers hope of having a different ending to the drama than what the novel has had.
