HUM TV Productions has lined up a new drama, ‘Nehar’, with a promising cast, starring ‘Mushk’s’ Osama Tahir, ‘Fitrat’ Saboor Aly, ‘Koi Chand Rakh’ Areeba Habib and TV Host/Comedian turned actor Syed Shafaat Ali. The story has been written by Soofia Khurram. She is known for writing the screenplay of ‘Log Kya Kahengay’. The drama is helmed by ‘Meri Guriya’ director Ali Hassan and produced by Momina Duraid.
Telling us some interesting details, Areeba Habib exclusively spoke about ‘Nehar’ and her character to Galaxy Lollywood.
She revealed that “it’s a story based on two sisters”, but clarified that it’s not a generic “sister rivalry” drama, instead it’s focusing on what they both go through individually, their parents’ influence on their lives and discusses the social issue of dowry (jahez). At times like these when dramas have a huge impact on our society, it’ll be interesting to see their take on this pivotal issue.
Talking about her character, Komal, she said that she plays the sister of Saboor Aly’s character. In terms of personality, she described her as “calm, polite and understanding”, adding that she takes care of her family’s needs and feelings.
The actress said: “I had rejected 15-16 scripts before signing ‘Nehar’ because I was getting similar roles after working in ‘Jalan’. In fact, even in this drama, I am playing a shade of my character from ‘Jalan’. I only agreed to this script because it talks about how women are suppressed after marriage, they don’t stand up for their rights, as well as their struggle after moving to their in-laws’ home.”
The actress added that she is yet to shoot with Saboor Aly and Osama Tahir. On working with Syed Shafaat Ali, she said: “It has been a brilliant experience because Shafaat is a completely different person compared to how he is seen on-screen. He brings great energy on set. It’s a lot of fun working with him.” Talking about his character, she revealed: “He’s playing a very different and interesting character, and I’m sure people will have a love-hate relationship with him.”
The drama is currently in the shooting phase. Stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywood for more updates.
