This year’s Eid films have been off to a rather dull start. While the Eid-Ul-Fitr releases did solid business at the box office, they have not been well-received by most audience members. This Eid-ul-Adha, however, already seems much more promising.
An anthology film, by Distribution Club, is set for release in cinemas this Eid-Ul-Adha. The film is produced by See Prime, which has given us award-winning hits such as Prince Charming on YouTube.
The film will comprise of three different stories and will be directed by Nabeel Qureshi, Nadeem Baig and Marina Khan respectively. Let’s discuss these three stories individually.
The first story is an intense drama directed by Nadeem Baig. The film will revolve around an intense storyline and the writer is yet to be finalized.
The film is set to star Wahaj Ali and Mehwish Hayat. This will also mark Hayat’s third collaboration with director Nadeem Baig. Wahaj Ali is expected to deliver another strong performance after Tere Bin’s and Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha’s fame.
The second story will mark veteran actress Marina Khan in her directorial debut. Not much has yet been revealed about this story but Vasay Chaudhry has penned the script. Chaudhry is the writer behind the mega hit Jawani Phir Nahi Ani film duology.
This story will star Sheheryar Munawar and Ramsha Khan as its leads.
The third story in this anthology is a horror-comedy written and directed by Nabeel Qureshi. Qureshi is of course well-known for films like Na Maloom Afraad, Actor in Law, Load Wedding and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad. Salman Saqib (Mani) and Hira Mani, the husband/wife duo, will be starring as the leads here.
Mani also starred in the horror-comedy Lafangey last Eid-Ul-Adha.
What is an Anthology Film?
An anthology film is a type of movie consisting of several short films or segments, usually connected by a common theme, style, or genre. Each segment in the anthology may have its own plot, characters, and style, and may be directed by a different filmmaker or team of filmmakers.
Anthology films can offer a variety of storytelling approaches and showcase different perspectives on a theme, and can feature a mix of genres such as comedy, drama, horror, or science fiction.
We are Excited
This is a rather exciting new project. Anthologies are not commonly theatrically released, so this will be a good test for future filmmakers as well. The talent attached, both in front of and behind the camera, has an impressive track record and that makes it one of the most anticipated films of the year. We certainly cannot wait to know more about this project since it has already wrapped filming. Stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywood for upcoming details regarding this film.
