When we heard we had Wahaj Ali and Hania Aamir as the leading pair of Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha, we were certain nothing could go wrong with this one. It had all the ingredients of being a hit, direction by the creative Badar Mehmood, a Big Bang Entertainment production and an OST to absolutely die for. There are a few questions though regarding Maheer from Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha.
However, everything went south for Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha, once the story started unravelling on TV. Not only that, we came to know that the drama had absolutely no story at all and the leading female character was filled with toxicity. Although Hania Aamir portrayed the character of Maheer to the best of her ability, it has become a nuisance to watch such an indecisive female on screen, when women today have become decisive, goal oriented and more confident as a whole.
Maheer and her depression
Nobody with a sane mind could remain happy if they watch even a single episode of Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha. The character of Maheer is unnecessarily depressed. Nobody and absolutely nothing pleases her or makes her happy. She has that depressive look on her face which eventually trickles over to the audience. Looking at Maheer all you can get are toxic and negative vibes as if her ‘manhoosiyat’ will destroy you too…
Maheer and her blindness
No matter what Saad does, in fact whether this guy would die or lay down his life for this woman, Maheer will always remain blind to Saad’s love for her. I mean how stupid can one get. Women possess that sixth sense which allows them to judge if a man is interested in her but Maheer, she is blind by sight and by her mind as well. She has no idea about Saad’s existence and his feelings and regardless of Saad’s efforts, she fails to acknowledge his feelings for her.
Maheer and her unhealthy obsession for Areeb
One wonders why doesn’t Maheer just leave everything and go to Areeb when she cannot think about anything else other than him. The only thing that matters to her is Areeb and his feelings. What about Saad? How can someone be so toxic that they destroy absolutely everything around them just to fulfill their unhealthy obsession. And Areeb? Well he returns the sentiments Maheer has for him but then again, why can’t the two of them just throw caution to the air and be together when they are intent upon destroying every single person around them.
Maheer and her indecisive nature
We have not seen any female lead that is as indecisive and as uncertain about things as Maheer. A sane female who is married and has suffered so much in life, gets the sense of the world knocked into her but Maheer, nope. She is as innocent and indecisive as a lamb. Hard to digest when you have two men swooning over you but.. well, okay.
Although Hania Aamir has portrayed a number of strong characters over the years, but one wonders why is she repeatedly choosing such depressive and unhealthy characters in her recent dramas. First it was Hala in Mere Humsafar and now its Maheer in Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha. We think the audience has had enough of Hania Aamir and her waterworks in dramas. Its time the lady does something new or else she stands at a risk of being typecast into the bechari roles she has been playing lately.
