Deemak: Faysal Quraishi and Sonya Hussyn’s Horror Homecoming

Faysal Quraishi and Sonya Hussyn have teamed up for a horror flick called Deemak. The Zulm star is making a comeback with not one, but two films next year.

Quraishi was last seen gracing the silver screen back in 2016, in Khalid Anum’s Laloolal.com rocking the lead role – Laloo Lal. The thought of catching him on the big screen again has us all buzzing with anticipation. It’s like a cinematic reunion we’ve been waiting for.

From Laughter to Chills: Quraishi’s Diverse Roles

First up, in Mango Jutt, directed by Abu Aleeha, Faysal is taking the lead in a Punjabi comedy that promises to be a riot. But wait, there’s more. In Rafay Rashidi’s Deemak, our man is diving into the horror scene after a bit of a break.

Now, Deemak is causing quite a stir, and we can see why. It’s based on a true story, spookily written by Ayesha Muzzafar. And get this – they’ve got a VFX team from Canada on board to make it as creepy as the Conjuring series, director Rafay Rashidi shared this with us.

Rashidi spilt the beans, saying Faysal was all in after hearing about the plot, especially because it’s inspired by some really spooky stuff that went down with the family back in 2020, in the Harnai district located in Balochistan.

“I showed Faysal the sneak peeks of the Jinns in our movie, and he was totally blown away, impressed and all, we have hired the Canadian-based VFX team because we want the best effects in the story to captivate the audiences,”

‘I’ve always wanted to work with Faysal since Badshah Begum, and finally, my wish came true,” he said with a big grin.

The Alpha Man Unveiled

Now, you might be wondering, what’s Faysal’s character in the movie?

Well, Rafay shed light on that by saying, “He was curious too. After reading the script, he asked me about his character, and I spilt the beans. Picture this – he’s the ultimate Alpha Man in the family, ready to go to bat for his loved ones no matter what. Married guy vibes, with Sonya playing his wife and the legendary Samina Peerzada as the mother. It’s like a family drama with a spooky twist.”

“Now, don’t expect any gore or item numbers because we’re keeping it family-friendly. But here’s the scoop – you’re definitely going to catch some Jinn action”, he further said.

In an exclusive interview with Geo Digital, actress Sonya Hussyn opened up about her exhilarating venture into the horror genre with Deemak, marking her first-ever foray into the spooky cinematic world. Previously, she made waves with her role in Neha Laaj’s Daadal – this year.

Expressing her excitement, Sonya revealed, “I’ve always harboured a desire to explore the realm of horror movies, but none grabbed my attention quite like Deemak. So, when the opportunity knocked, I immediately said ‘yes.’ I do believe in paranormal phenomena, but, to be honest, I’m also a bit spooked by the idea of ghosts. Let’s not talk about them too much because I’ve heard they might just come to say hello.” she chuckled.

Talking about the cast Rafay mentioned that – Javed Sheikh, Bushra Ansari, and Saman Ansari are all on board for this eerie adventure. The movie is all set to release in 2024.

So, are you ready for this spooky experience?
