In a move that left us all as stunned as a well-bowled googly, the Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and actor Sana Javed announced their marriage, raising eyebrows amid ongoing rumours about their separation from former partners.
The duo shared pictures on their social media, adorned in wedding attire, instantly captivating the attention of netizens and sending shockwaves through social media. Oh, but that’s not all – Sana quickly hit the digital update button, transforming into Sana Shoaib Malik faster than you can say “surprise wedding of the year.”
Their love story
Rumours had been doing the cha-cha since Shoaib Malik and Sana Javed first appeared together on Fahad Mustafa’s show ‘Jeeto Pakistan’.
Their friendship was noticed by many. Following, Shoaib posted a picture of him and Sana in March 2023, captioned “Happy Birthday Buddy”.
An old clip featuring Waseem Badami and Shaista Lodhi on Ahsan Khan’s show is now making rounds. Badami hinted at something brewing during the ‘Jeeto Pakistan’ filming. He said that he is getting a lot of news that Shoaib has probably won hearts from Jeeto Pakistan and he is hearing rumours. Shaista, who is a close friend of Shoaib, defended him saying Sania Mirza to not overthink these allegations and that he’s just making things up to create issues in his marriage.
Following the announcement, Fahad Mustafa took to his Instagram story to extend his congratulations to the newlyweds, emphasizing that “Happiness is all that matters.”
Now, let’s rewind a bit. Back in 2022, Shoaib Malik stood in defence of Sana Javed, countering allegations of her ‘diva’ behaviour by attesting to her kindness and courtesy.
Shoaib Malik’s marriage timeline
The cricket veteran, has now been married three times. His first marriage to Ayesha Siddiqui garnered media attention. He was in a relationship with her, as both used to talk online in 2002. The couple went through a Nikkah on call but Shoaib initially did not acknowledge the wedding when Ayesha went public with their marriage as he was marrying Sania, but it was confirmed that he divorced Ayesha legally.
His second marriage to Sania Mirza in 2010, endured for years. They were also blessed with a son, named Izhaan in 2018.
The rumour mill has been abuzz with speculations about the former couple’s divorce for nearly two years. Despite the prolonged silence from both Shoaib and Sania on the divorce front, a recent social media post by the tennis player has fueled the ongoing rumours.
In a reposted note, Mirza shared thoughts that ignited fresh speculation: “Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard. Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard. Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard. Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.” This indirect post from Mirza has once again sparked discussions about potential challenges in her and Shoaib’s relationship.
Confirming the situation, Shoaib’s family stated that Malik opted for khula from the cricketer.
Shoaib’s third marriage to Javed has left both Pakistani and Indian communities in shock.
Sana Javed’s former wedding
‘Sukoon‘ actor, Sana Javed, had a prior marriage with singer Umair Jaswal in 2020. Rumours of their separation hit the social media stands when their pictures went MIA from their social media last year. However, there was no confirmation from both the artists.
The unexpected union of Shoaib Malik and Sana Javed has social media buzzing like a stadium during a thrilling match. Fans are throwing around phrases like “plot twist of the year” and “unexpected union goals.” Netizens are sympathising with Sania over this sudden news.
Umair Jaswal, who is currently in Madinah, has been bombarded by support from his fans on his social media, with several telling him to stay strong.
Some also took a dig at the entire situation.
The unexpected announcement has captivated the masses, however, in the spirit of understanding that personal journeys are, indeed, personal, we extend our best wishes to Shoaib Malik, Sana Javed, Sania Mirza and Umair Jaswal.
