After the release of crime thriller Daadal for Eid-ul-Fitr, director Abu Aleeha is back with another film to be released this Eid-ul-Adha. Named after the Taxali Gate in Lahore, Taxali the film will delve deep into the walled city of Lahore, and look at it through a novel perspective.
Taxali Filming and Release
Abu Aleeha’s Taxali features Ayesha Omar, Yasir Hussain, Mehar Bano, Nayyer Ejaz, Iffat Omar, Iftikhar Thakur, Babar Ali, Umar Aalam, and Sheheryar Cheema.
Shooting for Abu Aleeha’s Eid-ul-Adha release has been completed, with the film in line to release this Eid. Besides releasing in local cinemas, Taxali will be seen across film festivals worldwide.
Abu Aleeha opened up about Taxali in a recent interview and mentioned that the crime thriller looks into the folk wisdom and humor found in old Lahore. The director also dropped hints that this may be Mehar Bano’s best work in her career yet. The characters are quite powerful, and all actors have done justice to them.
Super Punjabi Releasing on the 12th of May
Besides Taxali, Abu Aleeha is all set for the release of two other films in May and June. Super Punjabi, which is a comedy movie on accountants with links in the criminal underworld, will release on the 12th of May.
Super Punjabi stars Iftikhar Thakur, Saima Baloch, Goga Pasrori, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Sana Fakhar, Nasir Chinyoti, and Saleem Albela in key roles. The film and its star Punjabi cast might just see the revival of the comedy genre in Pakistani Punjabi films, after the success of this genre in our neighboring country.
Kukri Set to Release on the 2nd of June
After a rollercoaster ride, Kukri (the renamed and recreated version of banned film Javed Iqbal) is set to release next month in June. Focused on the life and death of Pakistan’s most notorious murderer, Javed Iqbal, the film hasn’t seen the light of day yet, after first being set to release on 28th January, 2022.
