Exclusive: Meera to appear in a dance number in upcoming film ‘Parey Hut Love’

2019 is going to be the year of Meera!

First, news that she is playing a leading role in Saqib Malik’s directorial debut Baaji had us all excited, and now we have learned from sources that Meera is all set to shake a leg in Asim Raza’s next Parey Hut Love where she will be giving a special appearance in a wedding song.

Last we saw Meera on screen was in the cringe-worthy Shor Sharaba, which was touted to be a comeback film for the Lollywood diva but proved to be a disaster. Nonetheless, Meera is a great performer and we can not wait to see what magic she brings on the silver screen this time around, and with a director like Asim, we are expecting nothing less than a picture perfect song!

Parey Hut Love is Asim Raza’s second film as a director where Sheheryar Munawar and Maya Ali will be playing leading roles with Ahmed Ali Butt and Zara Noor Abbas in supporting roles. The film is currently being shot in Bahawalpur after having finished two spells in Muzaffargarh and Istanbul, with an Eid-ul-Azha 2019 release date.

‘Sorry’: Another ‘Cake’ in the making or just another glorified telefilm?

Before Cake came out earlier this year, we were a bit skeptical about its audience reception. We argued that Pakistani cinema is at a place where it needs more commercial films and less glorified telefilms. The number of people going to the cinemas has already reduced with the advent of streaming giants like Netflix and we need films that can provide a true cinematic experience, now more than ever.

But then Cake came out and won our hearts. Its success established that a strong and an engaging story-line can definitely compensate for the lack of a true cinematic experience. This was one of those rare instances where we genuinely enjoyed being proven wrong.

Following Cake’s suit, Faisal Qureshi – our resident Johnny Depp – has recently announced that he is joining hands with Sohail Javed for yet another romantic drama film titled Sorry: A Love Story. The film is expected to hit floors in early 2019. The cast includes some pretty big names such as Aamina Sheikh, Zahid Ahmed, Sony Hussayn and Faisal Qureshi himself. The film will be co-produced by Qureshi and Javed while the latter will also direct the film. The script is being written by Asma Nabeel, in collaboration with Sohail Javed himself. Asma Nabeel has written dramas like Khaani and films like Maan Jao Na.

Now that we have laid out the facts, let’s try and gauge their implication for the Pakistani film industry. The cast is inundated with names from the television industry. Asma Nabeel herself is known mostly for her television dramas while the co-producer aka Faisal Qureshi has spent his whole life working for the television industry. Here, the question arises; will Sorry (successfully) prove to be another Cake in the making or will it just be another glorified telefilm that needs to be on the television and not in the cinemas?

Here’s what I think:

Yes, Cake lacked item numbers, cinematic shots and just the general glitter and glamour a film requires but it compensated for the lack of a cinematic experience with its incredible story line, exceptional character development and stellar performances. Now when it comes my expectations for Sorry, I, for one, don’t think it will be able to fill Cake’s shoes or even emulate it successfully.

My reasons are simple.

Maan Jao Na was quintessentially predictable. It revolved around a girl named Rania who tried making her friends and family understand how she didn’t want to be tied down by marriage but eventually ended up getting married by caving in. The film had some great shots but a painfully predictable plot. So did the TV drama Khaani, unfortunately. In short, Asma Nabeel’s track record with scripts is predictable at best and that could be rather troublesome not only for the film (that sounds like a telefilm from what we know) but for the industry on the whole too. For now, I guess we’ll just have to wait and watch.

Here’s hoping that Sorry succeeds in playing its role in lending Pakistani cinema some much needed support and doesn’t end up becoming another glorified telefilm that fails at getting people out of their houses.

Parwaaz Hai Junoon (Review): A disjointed collection of beautiful scenes

Movie Name: Parwaaz Hai Junoon

Release Date: Aug 22, 2018

Director: Haseeb Hassan

Review by: Momin Ali Munshi

“What? Is it over?” I asked myself once the cinema lit up and the end credits began rolling. I was amazed, partly because of the rather bizarre climax and abrupt ending of the film, but mainly due to the fact that the film had successfully managed to capture my interest from the beginning till the end – a rarity with our films. The crispy editing (a bit too crispy in fact) ensued a run time of about 130 minutes, translating into a film that was not dragged, except for maybe a scene or two, and the shortest among the Eid trio in runtime.

One of the major reasons why the film was so engaging was the inumberable characters and sub-plots, which served as garnish. The film had a plethora of fascinating characters and plots, which though half-baked at times as most of the poor characters didn’t even have a decent character arc, but in the bigger picture, they made the world of ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’ seem more real, believable and interesting. A significant drawback of this, however, was that it shifted the focus from the main plot and gave the film more of a drama serial feel- which was a major concern I had before seeing the film.

HUM Films’ last signature production, ‘Bin Roye’, was a feature film cut out of a drama serial for which it received a lot of flak despite being a decent product. Parwaaz Hai Junoon had a similar problem wherein, I kid you not, it seemed like a film edited out of a 20-something-episode serial. It seemed as if some beautiful scenes and tracks were picked out from a bigger content pool and stitched together to resemble a film. The viewer definitely felt that backstories, properly developed character arcs were all chopped from the film. I wish that they make a drama serial and the stories of all the interesting characters we met on screen are finally told!

The story of the film… I so wish I could do a spoiler included plot summary and I would share the one-liner of the film which would definitely leave you scratching your head. But since we don’t do that,  here is a no spoiler plot: The film has two timelines where one is set in the Pakistan Air Force Academy with all the cadets including Hania Aamir, Ahad Raza Mir, and the other,  a romantic track between Hamza Ali Abbasi and Hania Aamir. I can’t say more without giving away spoilers, and that should be reason enough for you to question the central premise.

The characters in the film, as I earlier touched upon, are not ripe and carry flawed motivations, leaving the viewer baffled and hungry for answers. The entire Marina Khan angle and whatever role she has in the story is confusing. And don’t even get me started on poor Ahad Raza Mir’s massively underdeveloped almost stock-y character. When we first meet him, he is the guy with his eye on the prize. Then somewhere down the road, we see him as an insecure chauvinist, and then later as a quintessential villain in between a love story. Either the writer is confused, or there was one long arch that they wanted to play in a twenty episode serial!

Performance wise Hania Aamir takes the cake and comes across as a powerhouse performer who in the coming years will definitely be amongst the league of actresses known for their strong performances. It would not be wrong to say that the film largely rests on her shoulders in terms of performance! Hamza Ali Abbassi pretty much plays himself, and that is not to say he was bad, he does exactly what is required of him and plays the charismatic pilot role to perfection and will undoubtedly have made the hearts of a lot of girls skip a beat or two. Ahad Raza Mir is another great performer, and even though the character given to him wasn’t well etched, he provides a balanced performance and leaves an impact.

As for the supporting actors, Shaz Khan does well in the limited space he had, which included action sequences and conversations with Hamza in military jargons. Kubra Khan looks breathtakingly beautiful, better than JPNA 2 actually, but acting wise, there isn’t much scope for her except for a scene or two she has done beautifully. Shafaat Ali, Adnan Jaffar, and Shamoon Abbasi do justice to their parts and bring the desired effects on screen. All veteran actors, including Asif Raza Mir, Marina Khan, and Hina Bayat add to the film and give the performances one expects from them.

The music of the film has been composed by Azaan Sami Khan while background score has been done by Mohsin Allah Ditta and together this duo prove to be a winner. The songs are memorable, decently shot and serve as a break from the seriousness of the film, although some may question their placement, I thought it was smart on the directors part. The background score is beautiful and has a major role, in addition to Hania Aamir’s performance obviously, in making you cry.

To sum it up, while director Haseeb Hassan’s debut is a far cry from a great film but despite all the flaws it surprisingly makes for an entertaining watch. The director beautifully captures the cadet training period with the coming of age track and the romantic track, the action sequences have been well shot with a whole lot of majestic planes and efficient use of CGI, there is an emotional climax though very predictable yet engaging.

Verdict: The telefilm like feature film makes for an entertaining one time watch despite a plethora of flaws.

Box Office: The complete Five-Day Eid Weekend report for all films!

Eid-ul-Azha 2018 saw a clash of the titans like no other, as three big-budget eagerly awaited films released in cinemas nationwide. While it’s common knowledge by now that Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 has emerged as the clear winner at the box office by recording a 16.78 crore five-day extended Weekend and has taken the country by storm, here’s how the other films have fared.

Parwaaz Hai Junoon

The film has done rather well at the box office given it had to compete against the biggie Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2. Parwaaz had a considerable pre-release buzz which has translated into healthy box office numbers and going by this pace the film will definitely have a strong week one and put up a healthy lifetime figure. Here is the day to day breakdown:

Wednesday: 1.79 crore
Thursday: 2.66 crore
Friday: 2.43 crore
Saturday: 2.87 crore
Sunday: 2.1 crore
Total: 11.85 crore

Load Wedding

Unfortunately, numbers for the film have been on the lower side from day 1 and the film has underperformed big time, given the names attached to it. Be it lesser showtimes or rejection by the audiences ( we will do another article on that soon), the film has been the last choice for cinemagoers which shows in its numbers. Here is the daily breakdown:

Wednesday: 0.90 crore
Thursday: 1.3 crore
Friday: 1.10 crore
Saturday: 1.15 crore
Sunday:0.85 crore
Total: 5.30 crore

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2

We did a detailed report just yesterday on the global five-day box office bonanza for the film and which records it has broken and which are still intact (Read Here). However, here is the slightly updated daily breakdown at the domestic box office:

Wednesday: 2.90 crore
Thursday: 3.58 crore
Friday: 3.41 crore
Saturday: 3.71 crore
Sunday:3.18 crore
Total: 16.78 crore

Teefa In Trouble

The film which released last month is still putting up a good fight and has recorded huge numbers in its sixth weekend! Here is the breakdown followed by its total box office tally:

Friday: 0.22 crore
Saturday 0.23 crore
Sunday: 0.20 crore
6th Weekend Total:  0.65 crore

Here is the weekly break down:

(Week One): 11.31 crore
(Week Two): 7.48 crore
(Week Three): 5.77 crore
(Week Four): 4.17 crore
(Week Five): 1.50 crore
(6th Weekend): 0.65 crore
Grand Total: 30.88 crore

The best thing about this Eid weekend was that despite the fact that there was no foreign content, cinemas nationwide were full to the brim and had record footfalls. If this is not a positive sign, we don’t know what is! Heres congratulating the makers and hoping the upcoming years turn out to be bigger and better for Pakistani Cinema. Stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywood for all updates.

Box Office: Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 totally owned the five day Eid Weekend!

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 had blockbuster written all over it the day it was first announced! When you are making a sequel to one of the biggest films of Pakistan and take things a few notches higher, your creation is bound to translate into a box-office bonanza and that is exactly what has happened. Now while content-wise the film may not be the strongest contender, but the outright masala entertainer has definitely connected with the audiences which is clearly visible in the box office numbers that are emerging.

The film which released on Wednesday has been on a record-breaking spree and currently, the film holds all domestic number records whereas Pakistani films are concerned, be it day one, weekend etc. Domestically, the only film that Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 hasn’t been able to beat is the Salman Khan starrer Sultan which also released on a Wednesday two years back on Eid and raked in about 17.7 crore in its five-day extended weekend.

Here is a breakdown of the daily domestic numbers for Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2

Tuesday (Previews): 0.24 crore
Wednesday: 2.99 crore
Thursday: 3.57 crore
Friday: 3.36 crore
Saturday:3.7 crore
Sunday: 3.07 crore

Total: 16.9crore

The film has done exceedingly well at the international front too but unfortunately wasn’t able to beat the numbers of Punjab Nahi Jaungi which had recorded a five day International weekend of 8.5 crore while JPNA2 has raked in 8.12 crore. But since the film has done wonders at the domestic box office the total five-day global box office goes to 25.02 crore which is the highest ever for a Pakistani film! Heres a quick comparison of JPNA2 and Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2:
[16.9 crore (domestic) + 8.12 crore ( International) = 25.02 crore]

Punjab Nahi Jaungi:
[9.53crore (domestic) + 8.5 crore ( International) = 18.03 crore]

Here’s congratulating the makers of the film on this success, let us see what other records this film creates in the coming days.

* All Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 numbers (excluding the Thursday previews) are official numbers that have been released by ARY Films.

Load Wedding (Review): A socially relevant solid entertainer

Movie Name: Load Wedding

Release Date: Aug 22, 2018

Director: Nabeel Qureshi

Review by: Zeeshan Mahmood

Eid-ul-Azha now seems incomplete without a quintessential Filmwala production. This year, the dynamic duo of Fizza Ali Meerza and Nabeel Qureshi brought to screen the light-hearted social comedy ‘Load Wedding’. Set in rural Punjab, the film, packaged with a breezy romance, rib-tickling humor, and memorable performances, delivers a strong social message. A simple love-story is woven into a compelling social drama, which highlights various social issues and conveys the message effectively without getting preachy.

Nabeel Qureshi, director, and co-writer of the film succeeds in delivering another socially relevant solid entertainer. He has actually mastered the art of successfully bringing authentic and relatable stories from the heart of contemporary sub-urban Pakistan to the silver screen. After capturing the ordeals and ambitions of common men in Actor in Law and Na Maloom Afraad, he brings to fore the menace of dowry burdening the underprivileged class in ‘Load Wedding’.

The biggest highlight of the film is it’s simple and powerful script, which puts the story of Raja (Fahad Mustafa), who wants to marry his childhood crush Meeru (Mehwish Hayat) against all the odds, in center, and develops the subplot about his elder sister Baby Baji (Faiza Hasan) waiting to get married around it. The nuanced storytelling with relatable characters and lifelike situations makes it one of the finest scripts of the recent times.

Another strong point of ‘Load Wedding’ is its depiction of contemporary sub-urban central Punjab and the lifestyle of people living there with authenticity. Nabeel Qureshi’s supreme direction and Rana Kamran’s exquisite cinematography imparts realistic zeal to the film. The film accurately highlights many social issues prevalent in our society, including the menace of dowry and exploiting honor of the poor. It also captures the rising public frenzy over game shows (like, Jeeto Pakistan, which, ironically, is hosted by Fahad Mustafa in real life) and the desire to win big in these shows very well.

While ‘Load Wedding’ hits many right chords, it also exhibits some weaknesses of its director/writer, Nabeel Qureshi. With prior experience of making parodical shows on TV, like BNN, he laces his films with stock jokes and spoofs, which look like an extension of his small-screen work and do not work every time. The caricature of infamous TV host and politician Aamir Liaqat, presented as Aashiq Rafaqat, seemed like an ill-planned addition and only felt like a nuisance in the film. It was given way more than needed screen time, only spoiling the film-watching experience.

The reason for adding the spoof character of Aamir Liaqat was the game show, which had the same importance in the story as Who Wants to be a Millionaire in Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire. However, it could have been presented in a more mature and subtle way. The rating’s sub-plot, which was added to call out the TRP-hungry media, was reminiscent of similar sub-plot in Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai. It was not properly integrated with the story and felt kind of over-powering too.

The co-writers of the film, Nabeel Qureshi, and Fizza Ali Meerza, wrote a well-paced script with tight screenplay; however, they dragged the second half, which dampened the film’s momentum. They made up for it by writing an eye-opening climax with good dialogues. Fahad Mustafa’s monologue in the end, especially, was one of the best things about the film and it will stay with the audiences for long. The co-writers also took some creative liberties in proving their point. For example, considering a widow a jinx is taken too far in the film. Also, the whole dowry part is overdone and seems unrealistic at some points.

Coming back to the film’s highlights, the performances given by every one of its small cast are praise-worthy in ‘Load Wedding’. At top of the list is Fahad Mustafa, whose performance is par excellence. He essayed the role of simple-hearted Raja to perfection and succeeded in making a connection with the audience. This is another memorable performance by Fahad Mustafa, who is a gem of an actor. Mehwish Hayat had a relatively limited role in the film but she delivered another powerful performance and created a spectacular chemistry and dynamism with Fahad Mustafa. She played the character of a rural Punjabi girl with aplomb. The only put-off was her unnatural Punjabi accent, which she needed to polish further.

All supporting actors played their roles equally well in the film. Most notably, Faiza Hasan brought the character of Baby Baji, an overage woman waiting to get married, to life with subtlety, despite that it was a comical role. Qaiser Piya gave another good performance by playing Raja’s best friend. He elicited several laughs with his perfect comic timing. It was also a novel idea to narrate the story from his perspective and giving him an important place in it (which gets clear in the end).

The music of ‘Load Wedding’ complements its story and settings. “Munday Lahore De” is a zestful Punjabi festive song, the tune of which is not commonly found on this side of the border. Fahad and Mehwish gave their best to match the energy of the vocalists in this well-choreographed number. “Good Luck” is another nice addition to the film, which augments the situation.

Verdict: A quintessential Filmwala production with a socially relevant story and high-quality entertainment. Baring its shortcomings and dragged second half, the film entertains, educates, and impresses with its storytelling, realism, and message.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 (Review): More gloss and less content

Movie Name: Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2

Release Date: Aug 22, 2018

Director: Nadeem Baig

Review by: Momin Ali Munshi

Film sequels are like a double-edged sword. While on one side is an increased probability of box-office bounty and the chances of creating a successful franchise, the flip side is a heavy weight of expectations along with a risk of content exhaustion. When Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 1 released in 2015, the newly revived film industry was experiencing its first major growth spurt after having come into existence a few years back. At that time a technically sound, visually appealing film with a decent script full of comedy and stellar ensemble cast spelled magic and took the entire country by storm. Talk of a sequel had already begun!

Now in 2018, three years later comes out Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 – a glossier, shinier, grander upgrade on the original film with even more exotic locations, more focus on wardrobe, and a general lush feel for the film. But while the highly stylised film has beautiful frames, the content that is filling those frames hasn’t really been worked upon which results in a film that is beautiful from the exterior but hollow on the inside. Don’t worry, the pop culture references and the localized humor is very much still a part of the film but the basic plot of the film and the general writing seems to have been taken for granted.

The story of the film picks up a few years after where the first film ended where we have the two original ‘Jawani boys’ Pervez (Ahmed Ali Butt) and Sheikh (Vasay Chaudhry) making their way to Turkey with their wives for a surprise reunion of Lubna (Uzma Khan) with her long-lost brother Rahat (Fahad Mustafa) who is getting married to Zoe (Mawra Hocane), daughter of super-successful designer Balani (Sohail Ahmed). As fate would have it, the boys are reunited with their friend Sherry (Humayun Saeed) and what follows is a brainless comic ride which moves from Turkey and ends in Dubai.

Written by Vasay Chaudhry, the film focuses much more on dialogues and punch lines than the main plot itself. Yes, a ground-breaking story was never expected from the film in the first place but the loopholes in the story are so major that one wonders how stupid do the makers think the audiences are. Without getting into spoilers, the main Humayun Saeed-Kubra Khan track is all based on one chance meeting, and what follows you cannot fully digest. In all honesty, I think Vasay and team should work on a spoof film where they have small comedy sketches with a thin plot which binds them together, that way they can fully make comic references to films and pop culture references – which is definitely his strength anyhow.

Furthermore, the addition of Fahad Mustafa to the film was both a win and a loss too. In the first film, Humayun was the central hero with the three boys playing second fiddle. However, this time around the addition of Fahad Mustafa meant that the actor was to be given the screen space his stardom required – not necessarily what his character demanded. So the first half of the film was primarily centered around Fahad Mustafa with a lot of introductory scenes being completely useless in the grander scheme of things. Running at about 2 hours 40 minutes the film could easily be chopped by about 30 minutes without having any affect on the plot.

Talking a bit more about the first half, the film opens with the grandiose which one expected from the film where we see a beautifully shot car chase sequence followed by the trademark ‘JPNA’ moment where a character is all set for a dramatic suicide. The scene serves as the perfect opening and sets the mood for the film. Then comes the much talked about ‘Fawad Khan’ cameo about which I could write another article. The scene is unclear, unneeded, anything but funny, wastes a good five minutes, makes you lose interest and look to your mobile phone and is only unflattering for the superstar although he completely owned the character on screen. The mood is clearly dampened!

Talking about the performances everyone in the ensemble cast puts their best foot forward and gives a brilliant performance. Humayun Saeed and his comic timing are too good, and the scenes where we see an uninhibited Humayun are amongst the funniest moments in the film. The emotional part, limited to a few scenes, has also been smoothly performed, and guess what his dancing skills have improved! Fahad Mustafa proves to be a wonderful addition if we solely talk about his performance, for he is comfortable in his skin, has an impeccable comic timing and also aces the physical comedy bits and is definitely a new chocolate hero for the industry.

Vasay Chaudhry and Ahmed Ali Butt are the two main driving forces for comedy in this film and they do great, especially the second half sequences featuring the duo are outright hilarious! Kubra Khan looks gorgeous on-screen and proves to be a great new addition to the film, she can act, she can dance and she is definitely a face to watch out for. Mawra Hocane is hardly there but she does justice to the content she had, also the last scene with Fahad and Mawra is the only time she actually got to ‘perform’ and can I say she looks beautiful when she’s crying.

Sohail Ahmed playing an extension of one of his Hasb-e-Haal characters is the funniest character in the film and owns the screen whenever he makes an appearance. Model turned actor Omer Shahzad fits the bill for the character he is playing and proves to be a worthy antagonist in the film with his drool-worthy body. Sarwat Gillani lines are funny but limited while Uzma Khan is the weakest link in the film. Indian actors definitely add a new flavor to the film and definitely add a lot of value.

The music of the film leaves much room for improvement where Behka Re and Lahore Terey Tey are the only two memorable tracks which have been beautifully shot too. Title track Tillay Wali Jooti is bland and the video is very forgettable. Ishq Hoa Jo Tari, God knows why it was there for both the audio and the video is boring! As for Aaya Lariye, well the unanimous verdict was out when the song first released itself. The background music is okay and it was interesting how music from ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ was used in the emotional sequences.

Nadeem Baig as a director has given us two of the biggest films of the decade ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ and ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’ where he proved his mettle as a film-maker and storyteller. However this time he misses the mark by focussing more on the fluff and less on content. Had this film come out last year or the year before it would have been whole-heartedly celebrated. But over the years the film watching audiences have matured and become much wary. However, not all is wrong as this film does have its comic moments – a whole lot of them, and is a visual representation of how far we have come in terms of our technological advances and how our nascent industry is stumbling, falling but moving in the right direction.

Verdict: A highly stylised film with its fair share of laughs but not a worthy successor to the original film.

Box Office: Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 has an earth-shattering start and creates a global day one record!

While the first few months of 2018 did not bring much success for Pakistani films, the second half of 2018 is definitely bringing smiles to the faces of the producers as films are creating new records at the box office.

A few weeks back we reported how non-holiday release ‘Teefa In Trouble’ had created a new first-day record when it raked in 2.3 crore on its first day. Well, that record has been shattered and that too with a decent margin as the mega-budget eagerly awaited film ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’ brought in 2.99 crore on the very first day and if you add the Thursday preview numbers of .24 crore the total goes to about 3.23 crore!

But that is not where the story ends because the film has registered an earth-shattering opening in key international markets and has brought in a whopping 2.17 crore from UK, UAE, and Australia only which takes the total global number to 5.39 crore, which is more than what most of our films have made in their lifetime

The Humayun Saeed starrer has been welcomed wholeheartedly by the audiences and the film has caused a frenzy at the box office with shows running to packed houses and new shows being added to meet the crazy demand.

What is interesting to note is that the film had to face major competition as two other big projects ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’ and ‘Load Wedding’ also released countrywide. Numbers for the two films have not been released but un-confirmed un-verified sources claim that Load Wedding ha opened under 1 crore while Parwaaz has opened under 2 crore.

Here’s congratulating the makers of the film on this success, let us see what other records this film creates in the coming days.

All numbers used in this article have been taken from independent box office tracking site Box Office Detail and we cannot vouch for the authenticity of these box office numbers. Good Riddance: Fawad Khan’s cameo cut out from Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2

Update: The scene has been added back as the technical error which caused the removal in the first place has been fixed.

We got a chance to see Jawani Phir Nahi Ani at its Lahore premiere on Sunday and were in for a surprise as we saw superstar Fawad Khan in a completely different avatar in a cameo appearance.

While the detailed review of the film will soon be out there is one thing we can say that the cameo appearance by Fawad Khan was one of the weakest moments in the film, for it was unclear, anything but funny and was only unflattering for the superstar although he completely owned the character on screen. However the scene was definitely un needed as it didn’t really add anything to the film and what made it worse was the fact that it came right at the beginning, wasting five minutes and dampening the mood of the film.

Rumours were rife that the scene might just get chopped of from the final version of the film and today we got a confirmation that the the scene has in fact been chopped off! Talking to an entertainment portal Vasay Chaudhry revealed that due to a technical error there were no subtitles in the sequence where Fawad Khan is shown to be a rockstar with a lisp and because this was causing unclarity the scene has been removed.

While this is might be a sad news for all Fawad Khan fans, trust us when we say that you missed absolutely nothing.
