Vasaakh Film Festival ends

Award-winning South Asian documentaries were screened on the last day of Vasaakh Film Festival at the Forman Christian College (FCC) that concluded on Wednesday with a cultural evening.

The cultural evening commenced with activities of drum beating, traditional gidda and bhangra. Guests were also treated to buggie rides and were welcomed by students clad in shalwar kurta, laacha, saris and other traditional dresses.

Film, documentary festival begins at FCCU

THE fourth annual Vasaakh Film and Documentary Festival began at the FC College University here on Monday.

As many as 23 teams from different universities of the country and abroad have sent their documentaries for their screening at the festival.

We some days back reported about director Bilal Lashari’s upcoming action packed thriller feature film Waar starring Shaan and Shamoon Abbasi, and gave you the information related to its distribution rights which are given to American entertainment company Warner Bros.

Waar is actually a project of ISPR (Inter Service Public Relations) which is an Army organisation that deals with coordinating military information with the civil society and media, and has made a collaboration with Pakistani based entertainment company named “Mindworks Media” for this project, where as it is also heard that Hollywood film producer Hunt Lowry is also a part of the production gang of the film.

“Victim” grounded with launch of a new film

Islamabad’s next indie venture: Gol Chakkar

Gol Chakkar, the sequel to Aisha Linnea Akhtar and Shahbaz Hamid Shigri’s short film, Sole Search promises to be entertaining if nothing else. “Though my main goal was to make a movie that everyone can watch and be entertained by, I wouldn’t say its a film for the sake of film,” says Shahbaz, “(the audience) want to see more than just suffering, poverty, and terrorism in movies. We get to see all that on the news every day. I want to give them their entertainment.”
